The Bus Collective is the first place in Southeast Asia to convert old buses into luxury hotel rooms, opening on December 1.
The hotel was renovated from 20 old buses, once owned by SBS Transit, Singapore's public transport operator. The total accommodation area is 8,600 square metres, located in Changi Village and is close to popular attractions such as Changi Village Hawker Centre, Changi East Boardwalk and Changi Chapel & Museum.
The Bus Collective currently has 7 room types with different services and amenities. Room rates start from 398 SGD per night. Information on the hotel's website says that each room has an area of 45 square meters, and can accommodate 3 to 4 guests. Some features of the old bus are still kept in the room such as the steering wheel, windows and driver's seat.
Specifically, the Pioneer North room has a handrail system in the toilet and shower area to meet the needs of elderly guests. The Hamilton Place room is designed to be suitable for people with disabilities, equipped with an outside toilet and ramps for wheelchair access.

The hotel does not offer the usual leisure activities but will organise guided tours. One of them is a cycling tour around Pulau Ubin, an island off the coast of Singapore. The tour costs SGD 99 per person, including round-trip ferry transfers from the mainland to the island and vice versa. In addition, guests can also experience other activities such as learning about local culinary culture or sailing at the Changi Yacht Club. Guests can register directly at the reception.
Micker Sia, CEO of WTS Travel, one of the hotel's co-founders, said they wanted to offer guests a completely new and unique eco-friendly travel option. The hotel is currently only operating in Singapore. In the future, Mr. Sia hopes to expand this accommodation model to other locations in the Asia- Pacific region.
Tourists can experience the hotel from December 1. Currently, the hotel allows early booking on the website.
