Boosting production of construction materials to ensure supply for the market

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Since the beginning of the year, the construction materials market in the province has seen many improvements with many types of products increasing in price. This is a good sign and at the same time an opportunity for construction materials manufacturing enterprises in the area to boost production and ensure supply for the market.

Tuan Hien Construction and Trading Co., Ltd., located in Tong Son commune, was granted a mining license by the Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Environment in 2018, with a term of 30 years. Annually, the company supplies approximately 45,000-50,000 cubic meters of construction stone for civil construction projects in the province and nationwide. Mr. Van Dinh Tuan, the company's director, stated: Compared to previous years, the construction material market is more favorable this year due to the commencement of many public investment projects and civil construction projects. Therefore, the demand for construction materials, including ordinary construction stone, has increased significantly. From the beginning of the year until now, the company has supplied approximately 34,000 cubic meters of various types of stone to the market, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year, reaching 60% of the annual plan.

According to Mr. Tuan, purchasing power has decreased at this time due to the end of the construction season. However, to ensure supply for the market during the peak period of the last three months of the year, the company will focus its workforce of 20-30 employees to boost production, ensuring employment and an average income of 12 million VND per person per month for workers. However, since production from now until the end of the year will only be at 40% capacity, to ensure the demand for construction materials in the remaining months, Mr. Hien hopes the province will research and implement a special mechanism to increase capacity, similar to what Dong Nai province has applied to businesses that meet the necessary conditions regarding machinery, equipment, and personnel. If approved under this mechanism, the company will work with contractors to adjust the supply of materials according to type and quantity, avoiding shortages that could affect construction progress.

The Vietnam-Japan Joint Venture Concrete Plant in Trieu Son commune, under the Ha Thanh Investment Corporation, specializes in producing various construction materials such as ready-mix concrete, asphalt concrete, drainage pipes, Vietnam-Japan non-fired bricks, and Vietnam-Japan terrazzo tiles. The plant's products primarily serve transportation and civil construction projects within the province and nationwide. Mr. Dao Huy Dien, the plant's director, stated: This year, many public investment projects have been implemented and are under construction, with the province focusing on accelerating progress. This has led to increased demand for construction materials, creating favorable conditions for the plant's products to sell more easily and increasing sales by 10-15% compared to the same period last year. However, at this time – when the local government at both levels is in the process of reorganizing and stabilizing its structure – the construction progress of public investment projects is no longer as vibrant as before, making the consumption of construction materials slower and more difficult. Nevertheless, this does not mean that construction material production will stagnate. Conversely, the unit has maintained production, ensuring supply to the market, while also maintaining regular employment for 40-50 workers, with an income of 5-7 million VND per person per month.

Thanh Hoa currently has over 500 businesses operating in the construction materials production sector, divided into 12 industry groups such as: cement, ceramic tiles, non-fired bricks, quarrying and processing of stone and sand, etc. Regardless of the industry group, the consumption of products from these businesses has been more favorable since the beginning of the year compared to before, especially for materials such as sand, gravel, stone, and bricks. This has contributed to the growth of the industrial and construction sector in Thanh Hoa province reaching 8.82% in the first six months of 2025.

Forecasts for the end of 2025 indicate that the building materials industry will continue to benefit from favorable factors, ranging from macroeconomic policies and the recovery of the real estate market to the implementation and construction of large-scale public investment projects. However, to fully capitalize on these regulations, many believe that businesses need to continue improving production capacity, optimizing costs, and promoting technological innovation to meet market demands.
