Tourist Vo Huu Nam (District 9, Ho Chi Minh City) said that it usually takes about 4.5 hours to go to Phan Thiet ( Binh Thuan ). When he heard that the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet highway was open to traffic in 10 days, he changed his plan to go to the coastal city of Phan Thiet instead of staying in Ho Chi Minh City as he had originally planned.
Fully booked a month in advance
The April 30-May 1 holiday is just over a week away. This year’s holiday lasts five days, and with the weather showing signs of transitioning from spring to summer, demand for travel to coastal areas is on the rise. Fearing a shortage of rooms, people have started planning their trips and booking rooms since last month.
Ms. Dieu Vu, the investor who is operating and renting out private villas in the NovaWorld Phan Thiet project, said that tourists have been contacting to book rooms very early. The villas are currently fully booked from April 29 to May 1.
“I rent out entire villas in the Florida subdivision. Some have been fully booked for a month, and some have been fully booked during major holidays. The villa complex has only been in operation since the Lunar New Year. In my opinion, the number of guests is relatively stable, with most of the guests booking rooms being domestic,” this person said.
This base price applies to the holiday season, ranging from 5-8 million VND/night and there are no additional fees. However, visitors can consider staying here after May 1 to save costs.
Similarly, the Centara Mirage Resort Mui Ne (Mui Ne, Phan Thiet) reached maximum room occupancy during the April 30-May 1 holiday. According to Mr. Vipul Kamboj, director of sales and marketing of this resort, all rooms were filled during the holiday, the resort had to open a new area to avoid overloading, affecting the tourist experience. The estimated number of guests staying here is about 2,000 people, mainly domestic.
“The opening and increase in flights to Vietnam has contributed to a certain increase in the number of international visitors to the resort, mainly from Europe, Korea, Japan... However, domestic visitors still make up the majority,” the director shared.
In a quick conversation with Zing , representatives of hotels in Phan Thiet such as Muong Thanh Holiday Mui Ne, Oriental Pearl Beach Resort, and Sky Home all confirmed that they are fully booked for this holiday.
With the large number of visitors to Phan Thiet during the holidays, resorts and hotels here also organize many free entertainment activities to retain tourists. However, the form of entertainment still focuses on multi-generational families and groups of friends.
Mr. Vipul Kamboj shared more experiences during this holiday that prioritize children, enhance culinary experiences for visitors through organizing BBQ parties, tea and cake parties,...
During the April 30-May 1 holiday this year, Binh Thuan in general and Phan Thiet in particular will become destinations chosen by tourists from southern provinces and cities when the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway project comes into operation.
Tourists look forward to the highway
Tran Phuong (HCMC) shared that he has been eagerly waiting for the highway to be completed for several months to experience this route. He plans to take the new highway to Phan Thiet, then go straight to Nha Trang to visit his family.

“On weekends, I often go to Binh Thuan by National Highway 1A. When passing through residential areas, I have to limit my speed, only around 50 km/h and focus on observing the surroundings a lot, so I am quite tired when I return. When the new highway is completed, the road to Mui Ne and Phan Thiet will be more comfortable. I plan to go to Nha Trang by this route,” he shared.
Sharing the same opinion with Mr. Phuong, Mr. Vo Huu Nam hopes that the expressway will shorten the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, improving the quality of the travel experience for tourists. Knowing that the project will be put into operation during the holidays, he immediately changed his plans and decided to go to Phan Thiet, both to relax and experience the new route.
“I went to Phan Thiet on April 30, not staying in Saigon, to learn more about this important route. Before, I went to Phan Thiet 3 days a week on the old route and had to stop at traffic lights, which took a lot of time. The high traffic density caused traffic jams," this person said.
In addition, Mr. Tran Phuong also predicted that Phan Thiet could be covered in a sea of people due to the number of visitors from Ho Chi Minh City, the western provinces, Tay Ninh, and Dong Nai coming here via this route.
The 63 provinces and cities in the country contain countless destinations that are culturally diverse and historically unique. Zing introduces to readers pages of books about the journey to discover Vietnam.
