On the evening of December 6, at the Sports Palace - Provincial Sports Complex (Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City), the opening ceremony of the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Tournament was solemnly held.
Attending the opening ceremony were: General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security , President of the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association; Vu Dai Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee; Dang Xuan Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee; representatives of ministries, departments, central and local agencies; representatives of embassies and consulates of countries; representatives of the World Police Federation and more than 2,000 athletes from 19 countries and territories.
The opening ceremony began with the drum performance “Aspiration to Shine” and a parade of participating delegations including Bangladesh, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Hong Kong – China, India, Indonesia, Iran, South Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and host Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, President of the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association, sent a sincere and warm welcome to more than 2,000 delegates, including officials, referees, coaches, and athletes from 19 countries and territories in Asia and outside Asia, who attended the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. He also expressed his hope that delegates and international friends will have wonderful experiences about Vietnam, a country rich in historical traditions, cultural identity, and safety; about the friendly and hospitable Vietnamese people; and about Quang Ninh - home to Ha Long Bay, a natural wonder that has been recognized by UNESCO three times as a World Natural Heritage.
The Minister of Public Security emphasized that with the goal of creating a new playground for Taekwondo for law enforcement forces in Asian countries and territories; spreading the value of the martial art originating from Korea, which has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as an official sport of the Summer Olympics; and further promoting cooperation in all aspects between security organizations and police of countries for a peaceful, secure and safe world, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the World Police Taekwondo Federation, will host the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open for the first time in Vietnam.
This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnamese People Protecting National Security (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).

Senior General Luong Tam Quang expressed his belief that the Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship with the slogan “The Power of Police! Taekwondo Police – Protectors of Global Citizens” will be a great success, deeply demonstrating the solidarity, close and effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies of countries to protect the peaceful life of the people, for the peace of all mankind. Through this tournament, it also continues to affirm that Vietnam is always ready to be a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community, always striving to increase its contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world.
Immediately after the ceremony with a speech by General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security; the parade of the athletes; the oath-taking of the athletes' representatives and referees; the presentation of flowers and commemorative medals to the delegations...
Also at the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed a special taekwondo performance from martial artists of the World Police Taekwondo Federation, along with an art program themed “Circle of Friends” imbued with the unique cultural identity of Vietnam as well as other countries in the region and the world; demonstrating the spirit of hospitality, openness, integration and development; expressing the desire to cooperate with other countries in friendship, sharing, supporting, helping, and standing side by side with the Vietnamese people to enter a new era, an era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
The exciting opening ceremony kicked off three exciting days of the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship held in Quang Ninh province./.
