The exam took place on March 26, 27, and 28, 2024 with 190 candidates from 38 participating units in the subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics. These are the candidates with the highest scores in the subjects from high to low in the National Excellent Student Exam for the 2023-2024 school year and 10 candidates were given special privileges because they participated in the national team in 2023.
This year, some mountainous, border, remote and isolated areas have had students participating in the exam such as Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, An Giang , Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Kien Giang...
Speaking at the opening ceremony , Director of the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ) Huynh Van Chuong said: The achievements of the Olympic teams in 2023 are an excellent testament to Vietnam's national and international excellent student competitions in recent times. With results higher each year than the previous year, the Olympic teams have affirmed the correctness of the policy of comprehensive fundamental innovationin education and training.

Affirming that the 190 candidates participating in the exam are excellent students and to be here they have gone through many challenges in terms of intelligence and skills, Director Huynh Van Chuong hopes that they will continue to be confident, do well in the exam to affirm themselves, pursue their passion for science , and be worthy of the pride of their families, teachers, homeland and the youth of Vietnam.
Representing 190 candidates participating in the exam, Ta Duc Anh, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted, expressed his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Training for creating a useful domestic and international playground for key training, so that students can demonstrate their abilities and promised to strictly comply with the exam regulations, complete the exam honestly, strive to do their best in the upcoming important exam with the goal of achieving the best results, bringing honor to the school and not disappointing the expectations of teachers.

After the exam results are announced, candidates selected for the national Olympic team will be summoned to attend training and represent Vietnam in the regional and international Olympics in 2024.
In the past 5 years, 174 students have participated in international and regional Olympiads in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Informatics, winning 170 medals and certificates of merit. Of these, 54 were Gold Medals, 68 were Silver Medals, 40 were Bronze Medals, and 8 were Certificates of Merit. Vietnam has maintained its position in the top 10 participating countries, with many candidates achieving outstanding test scores.
