The festival further affirms the capital's efforts to lift Ca Tru out of its state of urgent protection, while also promoting it widely to the public, contributing to preserving and spreading the unique value of this traditional art form.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, stated: “The festival aims to encourage and promote the teaching and practice of Ca Tru at the grassroots level, while also discovering and nurturing Ca Tru talents of all ages and promoting it to a wider audience, thereby preserving and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage of Ca Tru in Hanoi.”

A performance at the 4th Hanoi Ca Tru Festival.

The festival took place over two days, September 27th and 28th, featuring 16 group dance and singing performances, and 105 contestants from 21 groups and clubs specializing in Ca Tru (traditional Vietnamese singing), including female singers, male instrumentalists, and drummers from Hanoi. Contestants ranged in age from 8 to 86. Both the number of contestants and participating teams this year showed a significant increase compared to 2024. Notably, this year's competition included several new groups such as Huong Que, Tieng Thoi Gian, and Dan Ca Vi Dam Xu Nghe… The increasing participation of teams and contestants demonstrates the growing influence of Ca Tru not only in traditional craft villages but also within the wider community of folk art enthusiasts.

The organizers stated that this year, the festival will continue to categorize contestants by age to ensure the fairest possible evaluation. In addition to general judging criteria regarding costumes, performance space, and harmony, specific criteria for each competition category will also be given special attention. Therefore, the judging panel will prioritize adherence to proper etiquette and manners when evaluating entries.
