On the occasion of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23rd, on the morning of November 22nd, the Da Nang Museum organized the opening ceremony of the "Da Nang Cultural Heritage Festival 2025" with the theme "Diverse Colors of the Highland Culture of Da Nang" .

Celebrating the vibrant cultural colors of the highlands.
The event aims to introduce and celebrate the unique traditional cultural values of the Co Tu, Xo Dang, Gie Trieng, and Cor ethnic groups living in the mountainous western region of the city.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Da Nang Museum Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien said: Da Nang is a land rich in cultural traditions, once the center of the Sa Huynh culture, the ancient Champa civilization, the culture of indigenous ethnic groups, and is associated with many important milestones in the nation's history.
Over generations, Vietnamese migrants during their southward migration have intermingled and adapted with local cultures, contributing to the formation of the unique cultural identity of Quang Nam province. These values are invaluable legacies that we inherit, and at the same time, are important resources contributing to building a united, harmonious, and sustainably developing Da Nang.

According to Mr. Thien, the mountainous area of the city is the long-standing home of the Co Tu, Xo Dang, Gie-Trieng, and Cor ethnic groups. These people have preserved many distinctive traditional cultural features, reflected in their material and spiritual lives, such as: farming methods, stilt house architecture, brocade weaving, basket weaving, culinary culture, customs, beliefs, and festivals, etc.
"Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic minorities in particular, and national cultural heritage in general, is of special importance in the current period of integration and development," Mr. Thien said.

According to the organizers, in 2025, the "Da Nang Cultural Heritage Festival" will be held on the largest scale ever and for the first time simultaneously at all three locations of the Da Nang Museum after the reorganization and merger of the units, including: Location 1 at 42 Bach Dang Street (Hai Chau Ward), Location 2 at 281 Phan Boi Chau Street (Ban Thach Ward) and the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum.
The program took place over three days (from November 21-23) with the aim of providing the public with a rich experience of the cultural life of the ethnic minorities in the highlands.

Many activities attract large numbers of locals and tourists, such as: the photo exhibition "Colorful Highland Culture of Da Nang", the traditional costume exhibition "Colorful Threads", the Co Tu wood carving exhibition "Soul of Wood", the educational program "Cultural Heritage of the Cor ethnic group", the event "Co Tu - Gether: Exploring the Village Together", the game show "Up the Mountain, Down to the City", along with spaces for experiencing traditional crafts, folk songs and dances, and ethnic cuisine...

In addition, the scientific conference "Mac Canh Huong and the Mac family in Thuan Quang region" was also organized, contributing to providing more in-depth information about the local history and culture.
