Exploring Mekong River tourism in Vinh Long

The seminar was attended by representatives from the tourism industry of Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces, as well as representatives from tourism companies in Ho Chi Minh City; scientists , river researchers, and press agencies from within and outside the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Phan Van Giau, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, introduced some of the province's tourism potential. This includes significant potential for river tourism, with existing infrastructure supporting tourism development such as the Vinh Long passenger port, a fleet of tourist boats; and eco-tourism destinations and homestay clusters in the island communes of Long Ho district, all possessing unique characteristics associated with the riverine region.

In recent years, Vinh Long province has also invested in many new tourism products associated with river routes, such as river tours visiting Coco Home (Hoa Ninh commune, Long Ho district); visiting the brick and pottery craft village on Thầy Cai canal (Mang Thit district), and unique historical and cultural relics in the area.

The cruise ship La Marguerite is currently anchored on the Co Chien River in Vinh Long City, Vinh Long Province.

At the seminar, delegates heard many important contents aimed at exploring river tourism in the Mekong Delta region as well as the Mekong River, such as: Developing sustainable tourism associated with the Mekong River to become a key economic sector in Vinh Long and the entire Mekong sub-region.

Sharing experiences and proposing solutions to promote river tourism in Vinh Long and the Mekong River to make it more attractive to domestic and international tourists. Sharing experiences and suggesting ideas to create groundbreaking, unique products for river tourism in Vinh Long province in particular and the Mekong River in general.

From September 27-29, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, in coordination with Focus Travel Co., Ltd., organized a survey program on river tourism in Vinh Long.

During the survey trip, delegates will participate in two seminars on exploring and developing river tourism as well as river tourism products. In particular, they will have the opportunity to experience many unique tourist destinations in Vinh Long province.
