According to Tran Van Tho, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of An Thuy Fisheries Cooperative, the cooperative currently has 4,575 members, a charter capital of over 1,588 billion VND, and is responsible for managing and exploiting clams in the coastal alluvial area, covering an area of 352 hectares. The cooperative has undergone transformation in accordance with the 2012 Cooperative Law and the 2023 Cooperative Law.

In 2025, many difficulties arose due to climate change, heatwaves, and high salinity, causing scattered deaths of mature, medium, and bulk clams in many areas of the farm, resulting in losses of approximately 600 million VND. At the same time, changes in water flow gradually encroached on the shore, causing land erosion, requiring the cooperative to reinforce the area, incurring costs, and the situation regarding clam theft showed signs of becoming more complex.

In terms of production and business, the cooperative successfully secured 26 contracts, harvesting over 601 tons of clams, achieving 150.3% of the plan. Revenue reached over 25.6 billion VND.

The cooperative has successfully fulfilled its role in creating jobs, employing over 250 regular clam gatherers and paying out a total of over 3 billion VND in wages. The cooperative also prioritizes social welfare policies such as: donating a house for the needy (worth 60 million VND); supporting the construction of a temple (worth 296 million VND); assisting people in Central and Central Highlands regions in recovering from floods and storms (worth 10 million VND); visiting sick members; and giving gifts to children, thereby fostering a strong bond between the cooperative and the community.

From the beginning of 2026, the cooperative recognized that extreme and complex weather patterns would significantly impact the growth and development of clams. The cooperative implemented a comprehensive set of solutions to minimize damage to clams on its farm. Measures were strengthened to ensure security and order on the clam farms, prevent theft, and closely cooperate with authorities in combating and dealing with violators.

From the beginning of 2026 until now, commercially harvested clams have fetched the highest price of 75,000 VND/kg (30-31 clams/kg); the average price is 67,400 VND/kg. In just the first few months of 2026, the cooperative harvested 229,796 kg, achieving 114.89% of the 2026 plan; revenue reached nearly 15.5 billion VND, achieving 129.16% of the 2026 plan. Thus, in just the first quarter of 2026, the cooperative has already met and exceeded the targets for the entire year 2026.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hau, Vice Chairman of the Tan Thuy Commune People's Committee, highly appreciated the effective operation of the An Thuy Fisheries Cooperative. The cooperative coordinated well in patrolling and managing the grounds, preventing theft of clams belonging to the cooperative. In particular, the cooperative has built trust among its members, which is a key factor in maintaining the stability and sustainable development of the cooperative.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hau suggested that in the future, the cooperative should proactively develop a plan to spread materials evenly across the entire yard area to create a sustainable source of raw materials. He also emphasized strengthening yard security. The security team needs to take on greater responsibility, ensuring 24/7 duty to promptly detect and handle any cases of property damage to the cooperative. Absolutely no losses due to negligence or irresponsibility should occur. Furthermore, he urged expediting the re-measurement of the yard area and completing the land lease procedures in accordance with the law to ensure the cooperative has a stable and long-term operational basis.

The Supervisory Board plays a supervisory role, especially in financial management, procurement of supplies, and auctioning of clam harvesting rights, ensuring that all activities of the cooperative are always open, transparent, and democratic. It continues to care for the material and spiritual well-being of its members. The cooperative needs to seek more consumption partners to increase the value of its clams.
