| Summary of the Intervention and Rehabilitation Model for Children, May 29th. |
Through screening, the model has admitted, documented, and provided intensive intervention for 40 children; including 19 children with simple speech delay and 21 children with autism spectrum disorder. Using individual and small group intervention methods, the Center focuses on restoring children's skills in communication, behavior adjustment, social skills, and self-care. Simultaneously, in collaboration with the Future Health Education and Community Development Center, the Center provided training on home-based intervention techniques and psychological support to 38 parents.
After 8 months of implementation, the model has yielded very positive results. In the group of children with simple speech delay, 18 out of 19 children showed significant progress in communication, learning to utter single words and expand sentences (94.7%). For the group of children with autism, 14 out of 21 children showed positive changes in attention skills, rule compliance, and communication (66.7%). Some cases did not show progress due to short intervention time, late intervention age, or co-existing congenital disabilities.
The intervention and rehabilitation model for children with speech delays and autism spectrum disorders has yielded profound humanitarian results, providing skills and motivation for families, and giving children with special needs the best chance to integrate into the community early.
