According to statistics, the province currently has over 136,000 buffaloes and cows, mainly concentrated in mountainous and highland communes. In recent times, people have gradually changed their farming methods, focusing on selecting high-quality breeds, applying fattening techniques, building biogas digesters, and carrying out regular sanitation and disinfection of barns, aiming for biosecure farming.
From primarily raising livestock to support agricultural production, many households in Thai Nguyen have now identified buffalo and cattle farming as their main economic development direction. This shift from raising animals for plowing to raising them for commercial purposes is showing clear positive results.
With the advantage of abundant hilly and forested land, and the support of local authorities through supportive policies, large-scale livestock farming oriented towards commodity production is expected to become an important economic sector, contributing to increasing people's income and promoting the construction of new rural areas in the province.
