A modern, comprehensive factory system is the foundation for KES to achieve its current success.

From wood to melamine board : complete closure

Industrial wood is simply understood as a combination of wood fibers (chopped from firewood, branches, etc.) and glue, through a pressing system to form a board. To make a melamine board, two main materials are needed: the core board (raw MDF board) and melamine paper.

KES closes the chain right from the input materials stage. Every day, at KES's factory, the journey of bringing new life to more than 2,500 tons of firewood (equivalent to the carrying capacity of 200 12-ton trucks) continues continuously. These materials are all from planted forests, are allowed to be exploited and have a clear origin.

To get semi-finished MDF boards, raw wood will be put into the system to separate the bark, remove the latex and chop into wood fibers. The wood fibers continue to go through 4 stages: spreading the raw materials, hot pressing, natural cooling, and stacking for storage. It is worth noting that KES is using the 8th generation hot pressing system from Europe with a length of up to 50m, in the top 10 of the largest and most modern production lines in the world .

At each stage, KES always closely monitors and inspects each small step to ensure safe and top quality products for users.

In 2022, KES's Decor factory officially came into operation. Here, the types of paper used for the "make-up" stage of raw boards (MDF/HDF boards) were born. With the world's most modern printing and dipping line, KES can proactively produce types of paper that update the latest designs of the market, including serving the personalization requirements with unique designs. Types of paper at KES's Decor factory include: Décor paper (patterned paper) that creates aesthetics for the surface with many colors, natural wood grain patterns such as Oak, Pine, Walnut, Ham Huong... diverse according to the modern trends of the world; Overlay paper (scratch-resistant paper) ensures the surface is resistant to external mechanical, physical and chemical impacts, meeting European standards (AC3, AC4, AC5); Balance paper (balanced paper) creates balance and protection for the back of the board.

From two main materials including raw MDF board and self-produced Decor paper, KES will put them into the press cluster to move to the "make up" stage for the board. KES owns 10 hot presses with a capacity of 5,500,000m2 /year. Currently, KES is providing the market with 3 Melamine board lines: Series 6, Series 9, Signature serving the mid-range to high-end segments. In particular, the high-end Melamine Signature product line is developed by KES with a high level of abrasion resistance, surface scratch resistance, using the embossed pattern effect on the board, a special core board that is 120% more durable than regular boards and formaldehyde emission levels that meet the US CARB P2/EPA standard for the health of users.

Unprecedented strategic move!

Mr. Trinh Huu Kien, General Director of KES Group said: "KES's current closed production chain with 6 factories has an area of over 1.2 million m2 ; MDF raw board capacity of over 1 million m3 /year; total printing - dipping - coating capacity of 40 million m2 /year... KES has invested more than 9,000 billion VND to build a factory system with a closed process of high standards to serve domestic and export customers, meeting the requirements of demanding markets such as the United States and Europe".

KES set important milestones in its journey of closing the production chain. The first MDF factory was established in 2007, marking the first milestone for 15 years of official operation in the field of industrial wood processing of KES. Next, with a vision of technology and a desire to make products that meet international standards, conquering the export market even the most difficult market, the MDF factory with modern production and operation technology in the top 10 in the world was established in 2018. This was also the time when KES established a flooring factory, inheriting modern technology transfer from Belgium to be able to bring products to the US market. To date, KES's flooring products still maintain the position of "Made in Vietnam" on the shelves of Home Depot, Floor & Decor, receiving much favor from users in the US. By 2022, the Décor factory will officially be established, marking the milestone of completing the group's industrial wood production chain and also being KES's pioneering step in this field in Vietnam.

KES products are now available in 30 countries on 5 continents with an export volume of more than 3,000 containers/year. In addition to direct export, KES products are also "indirectly exported", meaning that the raw materials are trusted by domestic furniture manufacturers to "process" into products specifically for the domestic and export markets. Mr. Kien shared: "All efforts of KES originate from the spirit of wanting to bring good wood and paint products to customers. We are self-sufficient in production not only to meet all the needs of users but also to ensure that the products always meet safety standards for consumers' health".
