Nam Cum village has over 60 households, all of whom are Mong ethnic people. Although it is a Mong village, its name is taken from the Thai ethnic group's name. In the Thai language, "Nam Cum" means cold water, which literally means that the area is located at a high altitude near a stream flowing from the mountain, so it is cold year-round. The households here live on a rather steep mountainside, with houses arranged in layers along a winding concrete road through the village like a fishbone. According to the locals, every March, the entire village is immersed in the white blossoms of the Bauhinia tree, with ancient Bauhinia trees peeking out from behind the rooftops, their pristine white color enveloping the whole village.
To reach Nam Cum village, from Dien Bien Phu city, go to the Phieng Ban valley intersection in Na Tau commune, then turn left and pass through the center of Ngoi Cay commune, Muong Ang district to reach Nam Cum village. Upon arriving at the beginning of the village, visitors will see large, ancient bauhinia trees with their white blossoms bursting forth amidst the hills.
The scenery of ancient white bauhinia forests, winding roads, and pristine villages on the majestic mountain slopes will be unforgettable experiences, not to be missed, for any visitor exploring Nam Cum and the Northwest region of Vietnam.
With relatively short distances, convenient roads, and magnificent natural scenery… Especially for Dien Bien, where the bauhinia flower is a characteristic symbol of the land and people, Nam Cum village with its ancient bauhinia forest overflowing with pristine white blossoms will be an interesting and attractive destination for locals and tourists to explore and experience the Northwest region.
