Free examination and surgery for male children with congenital genital defects.

From May 25th to June 12th, Military Central Hospital 108 is implementing a program of free examinations, consultations, and surgeries for male children under 16 years old with genital abnormalities, aiming for early detection, timely treatment, and reduction of risks affecting reproductive health and psychology later on.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Head of the Department of Andrology at Military Central Hospital 108, the male genitalia play a crucial role in the physical development and long-term reproductive health of children. Congenital abnormalities not only affect health but can also negatively impact psychology and quality of life later in life.

It is estimated that about 2-4% of male newborns experience abnormalities such as: phimosis, urethral opening, buried penis, penile curvature, micropenis, etc.

"If not detected and treated promptly, it can lead to infertility, testicular torsion, testicular cancer, endocrine disorders... Early detection and timely treatment significantly improve the child's health and future," said Dr. Phuc.

To support the community and raise awareness about male reproductive health issues in children, Military Central Hospital 108 is organizing the "Humanitarian Examination, Consultation and Surgery Program for Male Children with Genital Abnormalities in 2026," which will take place from May 25th to June 5th.

The free screening program is open to male children under 16 years of age who exhibit abnormalities such as: phimosis, urethral opening deviation, buried penis, penile curvature, small penis, etc.

The free surgery program (taking place from June 1-12) applies to 30 children with indications for surgery who are from poor, near-poor, or disadvantaged households (with local government confirmation).
