Preserving the roots, awakening the desire to rise up

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee assessed: “The 50-year journey after the country's reunification is a meaningful period, marking the efforts, dedication and unceasing creativity of many generations of artists and artisans in the province. In difficult conditions, from remote villages to developing urban areas, you have worked tirelessly in your art, bringing your sensitive hearts and talents to portray the beauty of the people and land of Gia Lai .

Many people have spent their entire lives, overcoming material limitations, quietly creating works that touch people's hearts, marking the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.

Artists have become soldiers on the cultural front, using their pens, drawings, and melodies to light up the flame of Central Highlands culture, connecting the past with the present, and inspiring generations.

Specifically, works in the fields of literature, fine arts, music , dance, photography, theater, and folk arts not only contribute to preserving cultural identity but also reflect the lives of Gia Lai people; at the same time, spreading the spirit, beauty, and bringing Gia Lai's name far and wide on the national map of culture and arts. That is shown through the statistics that may not be complete, but they are very remarkable and proud results, such as: 2 State Awards; 1,909 awards for international, industry-level, and regional culture and arts; 437 awards for provincial culture and arts.

At the same time, over the past 50 years, the Gia Lai artists have continuously grown in both quantity and quality, as well as in political theory. From 40 members when it was first established, the provincial Arts and Literature Association now has a total of 207 members in 7 majors, with 51 party members, 3 doctors, 11 masters, 71 university graduates, and 9 college graduates. The province is honored to have 2 artists awarded the title of People's Artist; 8 artists awarded the title of Meritorious Artist; more than 30 artisans awarded the title of Meritorious Artisan.

“We are proud that Gia Lai today not only preserves ancient values but also becomes a bright spot in contemporary artistic creation. It is a continuation of the bridge between past, present and future, affirming the endless vitality of literature and art in the spiritual life of the people,” the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized.

In the spirit of deep gratitude, on this occasion, 71 outstanding artists and artisans were honored and awarded/posthumously awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their many contributions to Gia Lai province's literature and arts in the 50 years since the country's reunification. Among them, there were 3 artist couples who attended the honoring ceremony. Not only have they accompanied each other, they have also accompanied half a century of development of the province's literature and arts.

This certificate of merit is for his children and grandchildren to understand and be more proud of him and their father."

Increase investment and provide adequate remuneration for talented artists

At the conference, leaders of a number of departments, branches and units also expressed their thoughts and aspirations and made many practical proposals so that the arts and culture sector has the opportunity to contribute more to the overall development of the province. Talking about the responsibility of artists in particular and managers in the arts and culture sector in general, Meritorious Artist Dang Cong Hung - Vice Chairman in charge of the provincial Arts and Culture Association - shared: "Faced with the rapid changes of modern society, we are aware that: in order for art to not become outdated, artists need to constantly innovate their thinking, ways of expression and means of expression. In particular, we focus on discovering and nurturing the young generation of artists - those who carry the desire for innovation and the breath of the times to take steady and breakthrough steps".

With that goal, the Vice President in charge of the Literature and Arts Association hopes to continue to receive the companionship and support of provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches, organizations and individuals so that the flame of art continues to be lit, spread strongly, contributing to the sustainable development of the homeland and the country.

For Gia Lai’s arts and culture to truly flourish, according to Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Ngoc Nhung, it is necessary to implement specific groups of solutions. That is to develop a creative ecosystem associated with traditional culture such as: forming periodic creative camps in traditional villages, where artists “work together” with the community; ordering long-term works (novels, epics, symphonies, modern stage and film works based on Gia Lai’s ancient stories).

The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also said that it is necessary to focus on digitizing the treasure trove of epics, folk songs, and rituals, combining audio, images, and Vietnamese-Jrai/Bahnar-English subtitles; building a digital library on Gia Lai culture at the Provincial Library to serve students, artists, researchers, and tourists...

At the same time, priority is given to training artists from ethnic minorities, especially in the fields of literature, folk songs, and traditional performing arts; organizing competitions, exhibitions, and festivals on literature and arts, etc.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Chau Ngoc Tuan: “Party committees, units and localities need to regularly organize dialogues, listen to the thoughts, aspirations and opinions of artists on the tasks and solutions to build and develop the province in general and culture and arts in particular. Encourage artists to aim to create great works with profound ideological and artistic depth, especially on the topics of revolutionary history, the renovation process, new rural construction, national border sovereignty and the image of Gia Lai people in the new era”.

Concluding the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Chau Ngoc Tuan requested that in the coming time, Party committees at all levels, units and localities continue to effectively implement the tasks and solutions identified in the province's plans, conclusions and resolutions of the Central Committee on building and developing culture and arts in the new period. At the same time, it is necessary to innovate thinking and leadership and direction methods, raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees and organizations, especially leaders, for culture and arts work.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also proposed to increase investment in culture and arts; ensure funding for major target programs, for creative activities of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, considering this as investment for development. Continue to promote traditions, build and develop Gia Lai artists and artisans in both quantity and quality; have a mechanism to discover, train, foster, use and treat competent artists, especially young, female and ethnic minority talents. Along with that, promote the work of preserving, inheriting and strongly promoting the unique cultural identity of ethnic groups.

“In the context of the ideological-cultural front being exploited by hostile forces, I suggest that Gia Lai artists continue to promote their role as pioneers, using their talent and passion to create valuable works, contributing to protecting the great national unity bloc and building the country.

I believe that, with a sense of responsibility and love for the homeland, artists will overcome all challenges, from resource difficulties to competition from artificial intelligence (AI) technology, to continue creating worthy works, nurturing souls and arousing aspirations for Gia Lai's development" - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Chau Ngoc Tuan expected.
