On the afternoon of April 10th, the Long Xuyen Bishopric held the inauguration ceremony for the Lang Sen Social Welfare Facility for the Elderly (Lang Sen Nursing Home) in Vinh Thanh commune, Can Tho city.
Mr. Truong Tan Sang, former member of the Politburo and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City; Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City; Mr. Ly Rotha, City Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the City People's Council; Bishop Tran Van Toan, Bishop of the Long Xuyen Diocese… attended the inauguration ceremony.

Bishop Tran Van Toan stated that the Lang Sen Nursing Home was built to care for approximately 300 elderly people who are alone, without caregivers, and unable to care for themselves. He also expressed his hope that Party committees, government at all levels, other religious groups, businesses, and philanthropists would continue to support and assist the Lang Sen Nursing Home in providing even better care for the elderly.

On behalf of the leaders of the Can Tho City People's Committee, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Long Xuyen Bishopric, the leadership and staff of the Lang Sen Nursing Home in investing in and building the facility. This is a noble gesture, demonstrating a spirit of responsibility towards the community and making a positive contribution to the city's social welfare work.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen suggested that the Lang Sen Nursing Home should organize well-planned activities for healthcare, nutrition, and rehabilitation; and pay attention to the spiritual well-being of the elderly. He urged departments, agencies, organizations, and local authorities to strengthen coordination and support to ensure the Lang Sen Nursing Home operates effectively and in accordance with regulations. He also called on agencies, local authorities, and the people to continue upholding the nation's fine humanitarian traditions and work together to care for and improve the quality of life for the elderly.

The Lang Sen Nursing Home was built by the Long Xuyen Diocese and is managed and operated by the Camillian Order. The nursing home has a total area of 42,646 m² , comprising various facilities for caring for the elderly.
