Inauguration of housing and testing of sustainable disaster recovery initiatives funded by the Swiss Government

BHG - From May 19 to 20, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment in coordination with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam organized the inauguration ceremony and handed over solid houses to households affected by storm Yagi; inspected the implementation of the project to support cooperatives, small businesses, and vulnerable households through sustainable recovery initiatives in Quang Binh and Bac Quang districts funded by the Swiss Government.

Through the implementation of sustainable recovery initiatives funded by the Swiss Government in Bac Quang and Quang Binh districts, 13 poor and near-poor households have been supported to build new houses, and 17 households have had their houses repaired. The support level for building new houses is over 126.9 million VND/household; for repairing houses is 23.3 million VND/household. Up to now, households have basically completed, inaugurated and put into use new, spacious houses, ensuring the "3 hard" criteria: hard floor, hard wall, hard roof.

In addition, 112 households were provided with agricultural materials and trained in climate change adaptation farming techniques; 130 households received support for essential food items, household and study supplies, medical equipment, etc. In addition, the project supported the business recovery of the Nam An Sturgeon Cooperative, Tan Thanh Commune (Bac Quang) by installing a MET technology water treatment system with a capacity of 20 m3 of water/day and night. This is a completely mechanical water treatment solution , does not use chemicals, does not consume electricity, does not use filter cores but still effectively removes impurities, heavy metals, microorganisms, and toxic chemicals. Supported 26 members of the Nam An Sturgeon Cooperative to build a system to filter raw water used for fish farming before discharging it into the environment. At the same time, helping 20 ethnic minority households in Khun village, Bang Lang commune (Quang Binh) preserve and promote traditional cultural values ​​and develop community tourism models. The project has completed 100% of the progress, with a total disbursement of more than 5 billion VND.

During the program, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment; UNDP Program; Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, together with local Party committees and authorities, presented the house inauguration plaque to Mr. Vang Van Chien's household in Khun village, Bang Lang commune (Quang Binh); Mr. Trieu Ngoc Thanh's household in Pha village and Mr. Ly Van Huong's household in Lam village, Dong Tam commune (Bac Quang). Along with that, they cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Khun village community tourism model and visited Nam An Sturgeon Cooperative.
