This means that Galaxy S25 models will boot up with One UI 7 right out of the box. However, the question is when will older Galaxy devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series and other models, receive this update?
One UI 7 will be coming to many older Galaxy devices starting in the first half of February.
Currently, Samsung has not yet announced details about its One UI 7 release plan. Last October, the Korean brand only confirmed that the new interface, based on Android 15, would be released alongside the Galaxy S25 series, an announcement made in October. Some recent reports suggest that One UI 7 distribution may begin in early February, either in the first or second week.
As usual, Samsung's recent high-end models will be the first to receive the latest One UI update, followed by mid-range and budget models. Therefore, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy Z Flip 6/Fold 6 series will be among the first to receive the update.
New features in One UI 7
One UI 7 brings many notable upgrades and new features. Animations are now smoother, improving the app switching and multitasking experience. The camera app is also easier to navigate, with the ability to switch between modes and zoom levels easily with one hand.
Notably, Samsung has added a vertical app drawer – a long-awaited feature. Users can still switch back to the horizontal layout, but they will most likely choose the new vertical layout.
One UI 7 also introduces the Now Bar feature – a significant visual upgrade, similar to Apple's Dynamic Island – which allows useful information to be displayed on the lock screen, such as music, recordings, stopwatch, reminders, and more.
Additionally, Samsung allows users to separate the notification center and the Quick Settings panel for easier access. Users can now open Quick Settings by swiping down from the right and open the notification center by swiping down from the left of the selfie camera.
The update also comes with a redesigned battery indicator, new icons for native apps, and an adaptive charging option that limits charging to 80%. Samsung has also added several new widgets and improved Galaxy AI features.
According to leaks, Samsung is integrating Gemini AI into native apps like Calendar, Notes, and Reminder to enhance the user experience. With many new features and improvements, One UI 7 promises to deliver exciting experiences for compatible Galaxy users.
