This means that the Galaxy S25 models will launch with One UI 7 out of the box. However, the question is when will older Galaxy devices, like the Galaxy S23 series and others, get this update?
One UI 7 will come to many older Galaxy devices from the first half of February
Samsung has yet to announce details about its One UI 7 release plans. Last October, the South Korean brand only confirmed that the new interface, based on Android 15, would be released alongside the Galaxy S25 series, an announcement that was made in October. Some recent reports suggest that One UI 7 distribution could begin as early as February, in the first or second week.
As usual, Samsung's recent flagship models will be the first to receive the latest One UI update, followed by mid-range and budget models. So the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy Z Flip 6/Fold 6 series will be the first to get the update.
What's new in One UI 7
One UI 7 brings a number of notable upgrades and new features. Animations are now smoother, improving the experience of switching apps and multitasking. The camera app is also easier to navigate, with the ability to switch between modes and zoom levels easily with one hand.
Notably, Samsung has added a vertical app drawer - a feature that users have been waiting for for a long time. Users can still switch back to the horizontal layout, but they will most likely choose the new vertical layout.
One UI 7 also introduces the Now Bar feature — a major visual upgrade, similar to Apple's Dynamic Island feature — that allows useful information to be displayed on the lock screen like music, voice memos, stopwatch, reminders, and more.
Additionally, Samsung is allowing users to separate the notification center and the Quick Settings panel for easier access. Users can now open Quick Settings by swiping down from the right and open the notification center by swiping down from the left of the selfie camera.
The update also comes with a redesigned battery indicator, new icons for native apps, and an adaptive charging option that limits charging to 80%. Samsung has also added several new widgets and improved Galaxy AI features.
According to leaks, Samsung is integrating Gemini AI into native apps like Calendar, Notes, and Reminder to enhance the user experience. With many new features and improvements, One UI 7 promises to bring interesting experiences to compatible Galaxy users.
