The Ukrainian Armed Forces continued to make efforts to attack, but without success. On September 17, Russian air defense forces destroyed 16 Ukrainian drones in the Bryansk and Kursk border areas.
Meanwhile, Russian drones also carried out numerous attacks on military targets in Ukraine's rear areas.
Local sources reported a series of explosions across the country, particularly in the Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Kiev, Chernigiv, Kherson and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
A major fire broke out at a railway station near Mirgorod in the Poltava region. Several targets were also destroyed by Russian precision strikes in the Sumy border region. The strikes resulted in the destruction of several Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, ammunition depots and military equipment.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing many expensive NATO-supplied systems in the area near the Russian border. These systems were deployed to support the ongoing operations of Kiev forces in the Kursk region (Russia).
According to frontline reports, Russian suicide drones attacked a US-made multiple rocket launcher, as well as its ammunition and the soldiers operating it. In total, the Ukrainian military lost at least seven US-made HIMARS systems and seven M270 rocket launchers in the Sumy border region during the days of September.
Russia attacked and destroyed Ukrainian military equipment in Kursk.
Despite heavy losses, the Ukrainian military command continued its offensive into Russian territory. On September 17 alone, at least four Ukrainian attacks were repelled in the Veseloe area. Here, Ukrainian forces also suffered heavy losses in manpower and military equipment.
Russian forces are also advancing towards Seversk, where they are slowly approaching the city from the south and east.

On September 17, Russian troops launched attacks from Zolotarevka and expanded their zone of control west of the village. A key Ukrainian stronghold was destroyed in the area, opening the way for a further Russian offensive.
After reaching the cities of Pokrovsk and Mirnograd, the Russian army is stepping up its offensive in all directions. In the south, the Russian army is encircling the town of Ukrainsk and entering its streets. At the same time, the Russian army is also advancing towards the village of Tsukurino, where they will cut a strategic railway line and complicate logistics between the two major Ukrainian strongholds of Pokrovsk and Kurahovo. The Russian offensive in Selidovo and Gornyak continues.
Currently, the Ukrainian army is forced to move reserve units from one direction to another in an attempt to strengthen weak points in defense.
