Groundbreaking ceremony of Tan Cang Moc Bai dry port project: Marking the strong development of the logistics sector

Delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony to start construction of Tan Cang Moc Bai Tay Ninh ICD.

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Vo Duc Trong - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of provincial departments, branches and Ben Cau District People's Committee.

On the side of Tan Cang Saigon Corporation, there were Colonel Nguyen Nang Toan - Party Secretary, Chairman of Tan Cang Saigon Corporation and the Board of Directors of the Corporation, leaders of Tan Cang Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company.

Tan Cang Moc Bai Dry Port Project Phase 1 (6.5 hectares) when put into operation (from May 2024) will become a place to gather and inspect goods at the border gate area under the "One-stop, one-stop" method between Vietnam and Cambodia within the framework of the GMS - CBTA agreement dated March 6, 2006, helping to reduce traffic congestion, reduce waiting time of vehicles at the border gate, improve the efficiency of the inspection of import and export goods of the Customs sector between Vietnam and Cambodia, facilitate trade between the two countries, as well as expand the Tan Cang Saigon logistics service network to countries in the Southeast Asian region.

In particular, Tan Cang Moc Bai dry port is connected to the system of 27 facilities of Tan Cang Saigon, notably Tan Cang Cat Lai port, 2 deep-water ports of Tan Cang Cai Mep and 3 largest dry ports in the country in Dong Nai province, Binh Duong province (Tan Cang Long Binh dry port - 230 ha, Tan Cang Nhon Trach dry port - 27 ha, Tan Cang Song Than dry port - 50 ha) forming a perfect connection axis between the port cluster of Ho Chi Minh City, Cai Mep; Long Thanh airport and Moc Bai border gate economic zone, forming a set of 3 border gates, "sea - air - road" ports of the Southern key economic region, connecting the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Mekong sub-region, helping to reduce logistics costs, enhance competitiveness for import-export enterprises in Tay Ninh province and the whole Southeast region, while helping to strengthen national defense, security and foreign affairs on the Southwest border.

As a unit with many years of experience in the port and logistics industry, recognizing the potential and difficulties of businesses in the Vietnam - Cambodia border area, Tan Cang Saigon Corporation implemented the Moc Bai Dry Port Project (ICD Tan Cang Tay Ninh) located in the Moc Bai International Border Gate Economic Zone, in Loi Thuan commune, Ben Cau district with a total area of 16.52 hectares.

Representative of Tan Cang Saigon Corporation presented a plaque to donate 200 million VND to the Provincial Fund for the Poor on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony of Tan Cang Moc Bai Tay Ninh ICD.

Invested and built according to SNP standards with full components: container yard, CFS warehouse, control, parking and storage...; modern equipment including 3 RTG 6+1 cranes, 5 forklifts/empty trucks, 50 tractors/trailers, Tan Cang - Tay Ninh ICD provides full services: inspection and completion of customs procedures for import and export goods by container; temporary warehouse for import and export goods and containers; container repair and maintenance; delivery of other goods (bulk cargo, general cargo...); consolidation and division of LCL cargo for common owner goods (LCL cargo) in the same container; packing and unloading of goods from containers; transporting container goods from dry ports to seaports and vice versa, receiving and sending goods transported by container...

As a centralized customs clearance point, businesses can complete customs procedures at Tan Cang Tay Ninh ICD, shortening the customs clearance process at border gates and seaports, improving the efficiency of import and export goods inspection by Vietnam and Cambodia Customs....

The Tan Cang Tay Ninh ICD project demonstrates the pioneering role of Saigon Newport Corporation in implementing comprehensive, economical and sustainable logistics solutions, in line with the motto "Bringing the port closer to customers".

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Duc Trong emphasized that Moc Bai International Border Gate has the largest volume of goods passing between Vietnam and Cambodia among the 11 international border gates of Vietnam and Cambodia. Resolution 24 of the Politburo on socio-economic development of the Southeast region identifies Moc Bai as part of the East-West development axis; developing the industrial-urban chain of Cai Mep - Thi Vai - Ho Chi Minh City and Moc Bai - Tay Ninh.

Tay Ninh is focusing on adjusting the planning project to develop Moc Bai as an industrial - urban center, a trade - tourism - logistics service center in the coming time. The project, when put into operation, will partly meet the needs of the Border Gate Economic Zone, promote border trade and logistics services, contribute to completing the infrastructure of the Moc Bai Border Gate area and the economic development of the locality.

In order for the project to be completed and put into operation soon, promoting the highest efficiency, Mr. Vo Duc Trong suggested that investors invest in modern works, actively focus resources to implement the project to ensure quality and progress as committed; at the same time, comply with relevant legal regulations during the implementation process.

Perspective of Tan Cang Moc Bai Tay Ninh ICD phase 1 after completion.

The groundbreaking of Moc Bai Dry Port Project is of great significance, marking a new beginning for Moc Bai in the new period, contributing to attracting investors to be interested in and invest in the economic zone in the coming time.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Tay Ninh province has been and will continue to accompany and support investors throughout the project implementation process in accordance with legal regulations.

According to the representative of Tan Cang - Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company, this project is divided into 2 phases: Phase 1 will be implemented on an area of 6.45 hectares (of which the dry port area is 5 hectares). Phase 2: 10.07 hectares. The total investment of the project is 550.25 billion VND. Of which, the capital allocated for phase 1 is 250 billion VND; phase 2 is 300.25 billion VND.

On this occasion, Saigon Newport Corporation donated 200 million VND to the Provincial Fund for the Poor, and 50 million VND to the Ben Cau District Fund for the Poor.
