Launching the 9-ball billiards pool tournament for clubs in the Northern region

On May 9, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Billiards and Snooker Federation (VBSF) held a press conference to introduce the Northern Region Club 9-ball Pool Championship - Sting Cup x VBSF 2025.

This is the largest grassroots tournament in the history of 9-ball pool billiards in Vietnam. The tournament is organized with the goal of bringing 9-ball pool closer to a large number of sports lovers, while creating opportunities to compete, discover and nurture potential players for the future.

In its first time being held, the tournament is considered the largest grassroots tournament in the history of Pool 9-ball billiards in Vietnam, with the goal of bringing this sport closer to a large number of sports lovers, while creating opportunities to compete, discover and nurture potential players.

At the ceremony, Deputy Head of the High Performance Sports Department - Department of Sports and Physical Training, Vice President of the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation Nguyen Quoc Hung said: "The 9-ball Pool Club Championship is one of the important milestones, aiming to improve the level as well as spread the spirit of sportsmanship, solidarity and passion to the community. Through the tournament, we hope to develop the movement more widely and create opportunities for young players to show themselves. The Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation is committed to organizing a professional and fair tournament, while improving the quality of competition for athletes and spectators".

According to information from the Organizing Committee, the tournament attracted nearly 1,000 amateur athletes to register and compete at 24 large and prestigious billiards clubs in Hanoi and Hai Phong.

The qualifying rounds will take place live at the clubs from May 13 to July 27, selecting the 48 best athletes from 24 clubs to enter the final round.

According to the schedule, the final round of the tournament will be held from August 1 to 3, 2025 in Hanoi.

The tournament applies the Billiards & Snooker competition rules issued by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training in 2009 and additional updated terms according to current international laws.

The total prize value of the tournament is up to 350 million VND. In particular, the top 8 best players in the final round will receive the opportunity to participate in the Professional 9-ball Pool Training Course for Men, under the guidance of leading names in the Vietnamese billiards world such as Grandmaster Nguyen Thanh Nam and young player Bui Truong An - a new symbol of the Vietnamese billiards world.
