Stop catching wild birds!

Việt NamViệt Nam27/11/2024

Recently, Mrs. Lanh didn't know what her son was up to, but he bought nets and many strange tools, and every weekend when school was out, he would take them somewhere with his friends from the neighborhood. One day, she saw her son and his friends bring home a string of wild birds. Seeing the sparrows, big and small, all strung together, Mrs. Lanh couldn't bear it, so a few days later, while the whole family was gathered drinking tea and watching TV, she gently asked her son:

- The other day, Mom saw you and your friends bringing home a lot of sparrows. Did you buy them from someone, or did you trap them yourselves?

Hearing his mother's question, Hung, Mrs. Lanh's youngest son, explained:

- Recently, our village fields have been full of sparrows. My friends and I bought traps to catch them and sell them. The other day we caught a lot, earning almost 1 million dong. We brought the rest home...

After hearing her daughter's story, Mrs. Lanh immediately reminded her:

- Why did you do that? Do you know how useful these birds are? They catch insects for crops. Thanks to them, farmers can reduce their use of pesticides. Trapping and catching birds also disrupts the ecological balance.

Hearing his wife mention the children about trapping wild birds, Mr. Hoang continued:

- Do you know that trapping and catching wild birds is against the law?

When Hung heard his father talking about breaking the law, he didn't believe him and said:

- I've seen the guys from the neighboring village using huge traps, almost half the size of our cornfield, and nothing bad has happened. We've been catching them for weeks now and nobody's ever said anything.

"They don't know the law, and the local police don't either. If they find out, you'll be fined," Mr. Hoang told his son.

To help his son understand that trapping and catching wild birds is against the law, Mr. Hoang opened his phone, searched for information on Google, and then read aloud:

- Bird trappers can be prosecuted for violating regulations on wildlife protection as stipulated in Article 234 of the 2015 Penal Code, amended in 2017. The penalty ranges from a fine of 50 million VND to imprisonment for up to 12 years.

Seeing his father clearly reading the regulations, Hung seemed scared and said:

- I just found out about this rule. I have to tell my friends tomorrow. We won't dare trap or catch wild birds anymore...
