Several provinces and cities are recording an increase in COVID-19 cases, raising concerns about a resurgence of the disease. In Ha Tinh, medical facilities have also recorded COVID-19 cases for treatment.

Patient TBT (80 years old, Huong Khe district) showed symptoms such as fever, cough, chest pain, so he was quickly taken to the provincial General Hospital for examination and treatment. Through testing, patient T. tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Department for treatment. Due to his old age and underlying bone marrow failure, the patient developed complications of pneumonia. Currently, doctors are actively treating the patient with antiviral drugs combined with antibiotics.
Ms. NTĐ (78 years old, Cam Xuyen district) was admitted to the provincial general hospital for treatment of cardiovascular diseases. However, during the treatment, she developed symptoms of fever and cough, so the doctors quickly performed tests and the results were positive for COVID-19. Immediately after that, the patient was transferred from the Cardiology Department to the Infectious Diseases Department for treatment. Due to her underlying cardiovascular disease, the doctors are prescribing her antiviral drugs to prevent the risk of serious complications.

These are 2 of many cases detected with COVID-19 being treated at the provincial General Hospital. According to preliminary statistics, in the past week, the Department of Infectious Diseases has received and treated about 20 cases of COVID-19.
Doctor Nguyen Trong Nam - Department of Infectious Diseases, Provincial General Hospital said: “Recently, the department has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. All patients are placed in isolation rooms for treatment, to avoid spreading the disease to other patients. Common symptoms of the disease are still fever, cough, muscle aches, sore throat, loss of smell. During the treatment process, most patients have mild symptoms, so they can be discharged after only 3-5 days. However, some patients, due to old age and underlying diseases, have more severe complications, causing the treatment time to be longer. Therefore, the elderly, children under 5 years old, pregnant women, and people with underlying diseases need to pay close attention.”

According to the Provincial Center for Disease Control, in May, the province detected 71 cases of COVID-19. The cases appeared sporadically, without an outbreak.

Master Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control said: "Recently, through monitoring, it shows that the number of cases has tended to increase and has a stronger spreading nature compared to 2024, but there have not been complicated developments like during the pandemic.
The health sector has proactively monitored the Cau Treo International Border Gate, ports, and medical facilities; at the same time, distributed supplies, chemicals, and tested suspected cases at hospitals for timely detection and treatment. We also recommend that people comply with preventive measures, especially washing hands with soap, wearing masks, and limiting contact with crowds if not necessary. For the elderly, pregnant women, and people with underlying medical conditions, it is necessary to strictly comply with epidemic prevention and control measures because the risk of complications when infected is very high. When there are signs of illness, they need to go to medical facilities for examination, treatment, and isolation to avoid spreading in the community."
