In 2024, the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Ngai directed telecommunications enterprises in the area to eliminate the situation of mobile signal depression in villages. Currently, 3G and 4G networks have covered 100% of the villages in Quang Ngai.
According to a representative of the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Ngai, telecommunications infrastructure is an important foundation to promote the province's digital transformation process.
The province's telecommunications infrastructure is developed in a synchronous, modern and widespread direction, with large capacity and high-speed connections, connecting between communes, districts and provinces, directly and mainly serving production and business activities, direction and operation; basically meeting all current service development needs, with the ability to upgrade to meet new services; the cable network infrastructure has met the service usage needs of the people.
Currently, the mobile network has covered most areas in the province with a service radius of 1 km/station, of which 95% of the stations are installed with 3G and 4G BTS equipment. The rate of people covered by 3G and 4G is 95%.
The growth rate of telecommunications services is quite high, with a variety of services. In recent times, telecommunications enterprises in the province have focused on investing in promoting the development of telecommunications infrastructure to ensure Internet connectivity, basically meeting the task of building digital government, digital economy , and digital society in the province.
Also according to the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Ngai, the province currently has 7 enterprises providing telecommunications services including VinaPhone, MobiFone , Viettel, Vietnamobile, Gtel Mobile, SCTV Quang Ngai Branch and FPT Telecom Quang Ngai Branch.
To meet the needs of transactions in the digital environment, telecommunications infrastructure needs to be widely covered, have fast and stable access speed, and ensure service quality.
Telecommunications enterprises have continuously invested in infrastructure to provide a variety of telecommunications services in both urban and rural areas, mountainous and highland areas, meeting the people's needs for access and use of telecommunications, information and entertainment services and ensuring communication to serve the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the province.
In particular, the combination of support from the Vietnam Public Telecommunications Service Fund has helped to provide mobile and fixed broadband coverage to especially disadvantaged communes and villages, and remote areas.
This not only helps to reduce the digital divide but also supports the community in accessing telecommunications services. At the same time, clearly distinguishes public telecommunications activities and telecommunications business.
Currently, in Quang Ngai, the mobile information network with nearly 1,800 BTS stations has covered 3G and 4G to 100% of villages.
In 2023, Quang Ngai province still has 11 villages with completely dented mobile signal (Dak Bao village, Son Mau commune, Son Tay district; Go Tranh village, Long Son commune, Minh Long district; Ca Xen village, Long Mon commune, Minh Long district; Nuoc Giap village, Ba Kham commune, Ba To district; Cay Muoi village, Kon Doc village, Ba Trang commune, Ba To district; Son village, Son Tra commune; Nga Lang hamlet, Long Thuong village, Long Mai commune, Minh Long district; Lang Mam village, Ba Bich commune, Ba To district; Ca village, Tra Hiep commune, Tra Bong district; Gia Goi village, Son Thuy commune, Son Ha district).
The Department of Information and Communications has directed telecommunications companies to eliminate signal-sag villages. By 2024, companies will have completed the construction of enough BTS stations, eliminating signal-sag situations in villages across the province.
The fiber optic network has covered 100% of communes and 97.3% of villages. Enterprises have coordinated to renovate more than 30km of telecommunication cables every year, thereby contributing to synchronizing telecommunication infrastructure and ensuring urban safety and aesthetics.
The total number of telephone subscribers in Quang Ngai is estimated at 1,293,000, the ratio of telephone subscribers/100 people is 102%, the number of Internet subscribers is estimated at 1,160,000.
Currently, Quang Ngai has buried more than 1,190.1km of telecommunication cables, accounting for about 20% of the total kilometers of cables in the locality.
In general, telecommunications infrastructure has helped ensure information and communication in Quang Ngai, serving well major events of the province, both in disaster prevention and control and search and rescue as well as the needs of organizations, businesses and people.
