The timely, effective and dedicated intervention of the military medical force has contributed to stabilizing people's lives and minimizing the risk of disease outbreaks after natural disasters. In Block 4, Muong Xen Commune, floodwaters have submerged many houses, causing serious property damage.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, a local resident, emotionally said: “The flood came suddenly, all the money and furniture in my house were swept away, even the newly bought machinery for business worth nearly 500 million VND was also swept away by the flood. After the flood, everything was in disarray, fortunately the soldiers came to help clean up, spray disinfectant inside and outside the house, support medicine and give instructions on disease prevention, my family feels much more secure. My family thanks the soldiers very much.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, block 4, Muong Xen commune, was moved when receiving medicine and gifts from the Medical Team of Division 324.

Immediately after arriving in the locality, Medical Company 24, Regiment 1, Division 324 quickly deployed forces to areas at high risk of disease outbreaks, to coordinate with local medical forces to organize general environmental sanitation, waste treatment, disinfection, and sterilization; focusing on key areas such as traditional markets, schools, medical stations, and concentrated residential areas.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Tuan, Deputy Captain of the 24th Military Medical Company, said: “After surveying the field, we sprayed disinfectant chemicals at areas at high risk of outbreaks, especially areas with polluted water sources.

The military medical force organized health screenings and provided free medicine to the people, while instructing them on how to treat domestic water, ensure personal hygiene, and prevent common infectious diseases after floods, such as acute diarrhea, dermatitis, pink eye, and respiratory infections.

Add disinfectant spray over large areas.

Ky Son Medical Center closely coordinates with the military medical force, proactively develops epidemic prevention plans at each level, ensuring good control of environmental sanitation as soon as the water recedes.

Mr. Vi Van Khuong, Deputy Director of Ky Son Medical Center said: “We have organized many working groups to go to each village to spray disinfectants, distribute water purification tablets, instruct people on water treatment, and at the same time check and supervise the preservation and use of food during and after the flood. In particular, with the support of the military medical force, access to remote villages was carried out quickly and effectively, helping epidemic prevention work to be deployed promptly and according to the process.”

However, according to Mr. Khuong, the biggest difficulty now is the simultaneous deployment in many affected areas, while the district medical staff is still thin, and the conditions of materials and means for epidemic prevention are limited.

“It is thanks to the support of the military that the work of overcoming the consequences of floods and preventing epidemics for the people can be implemented synchronously and effectively in such a short time,” Mr. Khuong shared.

During the course of their duties, medical officers and soldiers did not hesitate to face difficulties, working day and night to stay close to the area, approaching isolated areas, transporting medicines, chemicals, and medical equipment to each village. Many officers and soldiers had to wade through streams and forests carrying sprayers and medical equipment to ensure that each area was thoroughly treated, following preventive medical procedures.

Coordinate spraying disinfectant in public areas.

As planned, on the afternoon of August 1, the Military Medical Force of Nghe An Provincial Military Command will increase its personnel and facilities, coordinate with the local health sector and the Military Medical Force of Division 324 to continue organizing more mobile medical examinations, spraying disinfectants on a large scale, checking the quality of domestic water, and at the same time strengthen communication and public health consultation, helping people proactively prevent epidemics after natural disasters.

The timely intervention of the military medical force and effective coordination with local health care in taking care of people's health in flood-hit areas has demonstrated a high sense of responsibility towards the people, contributing to enhancing the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era.
