According to the General Secretary: The new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise, is the era of development, the era of prosperity under the leadership and rule of the Communist Party, successfully building a socialist Vietnam, a rich people, a strong country, a democratic, fair, civilized society, on par with the world powers. All people have a prosperous and happy life, are supported to develop and get rich; contribute more and more to the peace, stability, development of the world , the happiness of humanity and global civilization...
However, some reactionary organizations such as Viet Tan, VOA Vietnamese, RFA, RFI as well as some social networking sites of reactionary organizations at home and abroad... still use the old tricks, deliberately distorting and falsifying the viewpoints, instructions and orientations of General Secretary To Lam on the "new era", especially the issues of human freedom and social democracy.
Specifically, recently, the reactionary organization Viet Tan said: “A new era, rising up, refined, and compact without: “Freedom for people. Democracy for society is only worth throwing into the dustbin of history”; or: “Only capitalism allows people to do things that are not prohibited, but in “civilized” Vietnam, people are only allowed to do things that the party allows…” to clearly see their plots and tricks.
This is not the first time hostile forces have taken advantage of the issue of human freedom and social democracy to distort and falsify; they have "chewed and re-chewed" this argument with the aim of opposing the Party, the State and the socialist regime in our country.
Faced with the strong message of General Secretary To Lam about the "era of rising up", making them "restless", they deliberately spread and distort the truth, steering the issue in a negative direction and their subjective consciousness.
Previously, hostile forces also frequently fabricated stories about freedom of speech, human rights, and democracy in Vietnam, claiming that: "There is no democracy under the single-party Communist regime"; "Vietnam has no democracy or human rights"; "Vietnam lacks democratic culture, has no democracy, and restricts citizens' privacy"; "Vietnam seriously violates human rights", etc.
In fact, our Party and State always put citizens' freedom and democracy first, and respect and guarantee are clearly stipulated in the Constitution and legal provisions.
Specifically, the democratic freedoms of citizens are stipulated in the 2013 Constitution, including: The right to freedom of belief and religion, to follow or not to follow a religion; the right to freedom of speech; the right to freedom of the press; the right to access information; the right to assembly; the right to freedom of association; the right to demonstrate and other democratic freedoms, such as: The right to vote, the right to run for election, the right to complain and denounce, the right to freely travel and reside in the country, the right to go abroad and return home from abroad.
However, the above basic freedoms are exercised according to the principles within the framework of the law. In particular, when exercising the right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press, citizens must comply with the provisions of the law to protect the social regime, protect the state and not affect the legitimate rights and interests of the nation, people and others.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: “Democracy is the most precious thing of the people”, it is the practical benefit of the people, it is the driving force that motivates the people to act for the country, for the nation. He soon realized the nature and role of democracy. “Our country is a democratic country. All benefits are for the people. All powers belong to the people... In short, power and strength are in the people”
Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's viewpoint of "people are the masters", "people are the masters", our Party not only determines the position and status of social subjects as belonging to the People, "people are the root", but more importantly, the nature of socialist democracy is to make the People enjoy the right to be masters and have the capacity, methods, and mettle to be masters in reality... then, democracy becomes the driving force to build and develop the country.
And according to the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: “It is not true that having many parties means more democracy, having few parties means less democracy. Each country has different circumstances and specific historical conditions. What is important is whether society develops, whether people enjoy a prosperous and happy life, and whether the country is stable to develop further and further. That is the most important criterion.”
At the 13th Congress, our Party drew one of the profound lessons: “In all the work of the Party and State, we must always thoroughly grasp the viewpoint that “the people are the root”; truly trust, respect and promote the people’s right to mastery, persistently implement the motto “the people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people supervise, the people benefit”. The people are the center, the subject of the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland; all guidelines and policies must truly originate from the lives, aspirations, rights and legitimate interests of the people, taking the happiness and prosperity of the people as the goal to strive for. Tighten the close relationship between the Party and the people, rely on the people to build the Party; consolidate and strengthen the people’s trust in the Party, the State and the socialist regime”.
Achievements of nearly 40 years of innovation, with the choice of the right development path, in accordance with the law of development, from an agricultural, backward, poor country with a small economic scale, with a GDP of only 26.3 billion USD in the first years of innovation, Vietnam has left the group of low-income countries since 2008; the economic scale reached 430 billion USD, ranked 35th in the top 40 largest economies in the world. From a closed, closed economy, Vietnam has become the 22nd largest global trading partner. People's lives have been improved, people enjoy human rights...
The achievements have further strengthened the people's trust in the Party. From that trust, the solidarity, consensus and joint efforts of the people of the whole country on all fronts, from politics, economics, culture and society to national security and defense, have been highly promoted, to create a solid foundation, creating momentum for the country to firmly enter a new era - the era of national development.
At the same time, it is also a clear demonstration of human rights in Vietnam and that the nature of a democracy does not depend on a multi-party or one-party regime. For Vietnam, under the sole leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, democracy in society is not only not lost or limited, but is also guaranteed and widely promoted in practice.
