Kia Sorento 2025 is about to launch in Vietnam, Hyundai SantaFe is cautious

Since February 2025, some Kia dealers in Vietnam have started accepting deposits for the new version of the new Kia Sorento 2025 in the Vietnamese market. According to information from the dealer, this mid-size SUV will officially launch in the Vietnamese market this March 2025 or early next month.

The sales consultant at the dealership said that the 2025 Kia Sorento SUV will not change much in terms of design compared to the old version. The car applies the Opposites United design language similar to its siblings in the same brand such as Kia Seltos, Morning and EV9.

The design similarities between the new Sorento and other products of the same brand can be clearly seen through the front of the car. Here, the car is supplemented with new vertical LED headlights, an improved "tiger nose" grille, smaller vertical air vents at the two corners and different front fog lights.

In addition, there are new alloy wheels with a diameter of up to 20 inches, along with LED daytime running lights and vertical LED taillights inspired by the constellation design. The underbody cover of the front and rear bumpers has also been redesigned.

Inside the car, the Kia Sorento 2025 has the most notable highlight being the new curved screen on the dashboard, similar to other products of the Kia and Hyundai brands. Expressing the "unlimited continuity" design concept, this screen integrates a digital clock and a central touch screen, both measuring 12.3 inches.

Next is the central air conditioning vent that is narrowed and extended on the dashboard. This change causes the air conditioning system screen to be moved down below. Meanwhile, the air conditioning vents at the two corners of the dashboard are no longer designed in two layers as before.

Other new features include an electric tailgate that can automatically close when the smart key leaves the sensor area, a head-up display (HUD) and the Kia Digital Key 2. It wouldn't be surprising if safety features were also upgraded.

In foreign markets, the 2025 Kia Sorento is equipped with 10 airbags, a wider range of forward collision avoidance assist systems, an upgraded highway driving assist system (HDA2) with integrated lane change assist and a vehicle stability control system when there are strong crosswinds.

It is expected that the Kia Sorento 2025 in Vietnam will use the same engines as before. First is the Smartstream 2.5 MPI gasoline engine with 4 cylinders, 2.5L capacity, producing a maximum capacity of 177 horsepower and maximum torque of 232 Nm as before. This engine is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The second is the Smartstream D2.2 diesel engine with 4 cylinders, 2.2L capacity, producing a maximum capacity of 198 horsepower and a maximum torque of 440 Nm. The engine goes with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The third is the new hybrid powertrain, similar to the Kia Carnival HEV 2025 currently sold in Vietnam.

Specifically, the 2025 Kia Sorento HEV will be equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor. This electric motor has a larger capacity, reaching 47.7 kW (about 65 horsepower) instead of 44.2 kW (60 horsepower) as before. In total, the car has a capacity of 245 horsepower and a maximum torque of 366 Nm.

Not only is it more powerful, this powertrain is also more fuel-efficient with an average consumption of 15.7 km/liter (about 6.36 liters/100 km). Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 1.6L gasoline engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission similar to the above. However, the engine comes with a 90 horsepower and 304 Nm electric motor. Currently, the price of the Kia Sorento 2025 in Vietnam is still a mystery.
