Checking the safety assurance work downstream when operating Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir

On the afternoon of July 9, comrade Dinh Cong Su - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the work of ensuring safety downstream when operating the Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir. Accompanying him were leaders of Hoa Binh Ward, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Provincial People's Committee Office.

According to Official Dispatch No. 4176/CD-BNNMT dated July 9, 2025 of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, the Director of Hoa Binh Hydropower Company ordered to open 01 bottom spillway gate of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir at 4:00 p.m. on July 9, 2025.

To ensure downstream safety when operating Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir when Hoa Binh Hydropower Company opens 01 bottom spillway gate, ensuring safety for works and riverside activities, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Cong Su requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment (the standing agency of the Provincial Flood and Storm Prevention Command) to proactively direct relevant units to prepare plans to ensure the safety of people and property.

Propose the Chairmen of the People's Committees of 25 communes and wards in the province to step up propaganda work, immediately notify people and organizations operating on rivers and riverbanks; aquaculture facilities, water transport vehicles; ferry terminals; review and ensure the safety of construction works under construction; activities of sand and gravel exploitation, gathering and transfer to know information about flood discharge from Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir; proactively take preventive measures to ensure safety; do not let people go to areas at risk of landslides, dangerous deep water areas, construction works under construction... Relevant agencies and units coordinate with local authorities at all levels to proactively take measures, prepare appropriate handling plans when situations arise; mobilize forces to support people in clearing their assets, houses, cages, rafts, ensuring absolutely no loss of life and property.
