The Ministry of Education and Training will inspect the Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport's plan to enroll 10,000 students, double last year's number.

According to the 2023 enrollment plan of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, for Logistics and Supply Chain Management alone, the school will enroll 5,480 students, higher than the total enrollment target of the whole school last year (5,050 students).

The industry with the second highest increase in enrollment quotas is Information Technology, from 720 last year to 1,000 this year. The remaining industries at Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport have reduced enrollment quotas.

Responding to VnExpress on the evening of May 30, Dr. Pham Nhu Nghe, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Department will review the admission conditions of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport. According to the Ministry's regulations, the admission quota of universities is determined by each major and group of majors and must not exceed the training capacity.

"Increasing enrollment targets is normal, but doubling them in just two years will require the Department of Higher Education to re-examine," said Mr. Nghe.

According to him, each training program of the school can increase its enrollment quota if it meets the following conditions: The number of lecturers per student as prescribed (1/30), the rate of graduates having jobs is over 80%, and the enrollment results of the previous year are over 80%. If these three criteria are not met, the school is not allowed to increase its enrollment quota.

According to the enrollment plan of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, the school will recruit students by 5 methods: Considering academic records (50% of the target); Direct admission according to the school's plan (20% of the target); Direct admission according to the Ministry's regulations (1-2% of the target); Considering the capacity assessment test scores organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University (3-4% of the target); Considering the high school graduation exam scores (20% of the target).

In 2022, in the admission method based on high school exam scores, most majors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport have a benchmark score of 15. The only three majors with a benchmark score of 19 are Information Technology (major in Information Technology), Automotive Engineering (major in Automotive Mechatronics) and Automotive Engineering (major in Automotive Mechanics).
