Fifty athletes of various ages, who had passed the preliminary selection rounds at the commune and ward levels, participated in the selection process for the provincial sports talent teams in six disciplines: wrestling, badminton, karate, boxing, and stick pushing. The athletes underwent medical examinations, height and weight checks, and assessments of their professional skills in each discipline. As a result, the selection committee chose 21 athletes with the best performance to join the provincial sports talent teams.

The annual selection and testing of athletes is organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to identify talented athletes in various sports and incorporate them into systematic training programs.
