The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Giang province requests the People's Committees of coastal districts and cities to direct the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Economics to notify fishing boat owners, businesses, and establishments that collect, process, and trade bivalve mollusks of the above-mentioned fishing ban period. Fishing licenses will not be granted to fishing boats with a maximum length of less than 12m during the fishing ban period.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Economics coordinate with the Fisheries Surveillance Department to organize patrols, control, detect, prevent and promptly handle violations of the law on bivalve mollusk exploitation during the ban on exploitation in coastal areas under decentralized management.
The Department of Fisheries of Kien Giang province does not issue fishing licenses to fishing vessels with a maximum length of less than 12m in districts that are not assigned to manage the exploitation of bivalve molluscs during the fishing ban period. The Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management of Kien Giang province does not issue certificates of origin for clams during the fishing ban period.
Production and business establishments are not allowed to collect, process, preserve, transport and trade bivalve molluscs harvested during the fishing ban period. Fishing in areas with a temporary fishing ban will be subject to administrative penalties according to the provisions of Decree 42/2019/ND-CP of the Government regulating penalties for administrative violations in the fisheries sector.
