Speaking at the conference, Mr. Quach Trung Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, shared: “Currently, the province has 133 intergenerational self-help clubs with 10,486 members; of which 4,804 are elderly people aged 60 and over, 4,684 are women's union members and 998 are poor people in difficult circumstances.
By early 2025, 100% of communes, wards and towns had established and put into operation intergenerational self-help clubs. Over the years, this model has not only been effective in supporting the elderly both materially and spiritually, but also aroused the spirit of mutual love and support in the community.
At the conference, delegates shared experiences in implementing the project and recommended that relevant agencies include the intergenerational self-help club model in the national target program on poverty reduction, new rural development, and elderly care. In particular, agencies need to support additional start-up budgets, creating conditions for clubs to have revolving capital to help members in difficulty.
On this occasion, the Provincial Department of Health awarded certificates of merit to 12 collectives and 19 individuals who had outstanding achievements in implementing the project to replicate the intergenerational self-help club model in the province, period 2021 - 2025.
