On the afternoon of June 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a national online conference to review the work in the first 6 months of 2025 and summarize the peak period of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

At the Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee bridge, there were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Trung Hoang, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, and leaders of provincial departments and branches who are members of the Steering Committee attending.

According to the report of the National Steering Committee 389, in the first 6 months of the year, the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches and localities actively directed and implemented plans to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, launching a peak period to implement Official Dispatch 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister .

Since the beginning of the year, units and localities have arrested and handled nearly 50,000 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and tax fraud; collected nearly 6,500 billion VND for the state budget; and prosecuted 1,899 criminal cases with 3,271 defendants.

In the peak month alone, units and localities arrested and handled more than 10,836 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (an increase of 79.34% compared to the previous peak month); collected nearly 1,300 billion VND for the state budget (an increase of 258.43% compared to the previous peak month); temporarily seized goods and exhibits worth an estimated over 4,075 billion VND (not including the temporarily seized goods of drugs, banned goods and counterfeit goods); prosecuted more than 200 cases with 378 defendants.

In Tra Vinh province, in the first 6 months of the year, the authorities conducted inspections and detected 132 violations, including 16 cases of trading in prohibited and smuggled goods, 112 cases related to trade fraud and 4 cases of trading in counterfeit goods. The total amount of administrative fines was over 7.7 billion VND.

Directing at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested relevant agencies and units to resolutely declare war, prevent, repel and end smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights, especially in areas that directly affect people's health such as medicine, functional foods, cosmetics, chemicals, medical supplies, etc.

Continue to raise the sense of responsibility, absolutely no forbidden areas, no cover-up, no tolerance for violations. At the same time, promote propaganda, education, and dissemination of laws to organizations, individuals and people to contribute to raising awareness and compliance with legal regulations; widely publicize hotlines, ensure timely collection of reports from people and businesses about smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods...

Ministries and branches should soon complete legal documents; People's Committees of provinces and cities should soon complete Steering Committee 389 after merging provinces and cities and implementing a two-level local government model, ensuring effective prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in localities.
