In the first 6 months of 2025, the National Steering Committee 389, ministries, branches, provinces and cities have done a good job of leading, directing and strictly implementing the directives of the Government and the Prime Minister on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Units and localities arrested and handled nearly 50,000 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and tax fraud; collected nearly 6,500 billion VND for the State budget; prosecuted 1,899 cases with 3,271 defendants.

The peak period of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement has been seriously implemented from the central to local levels. Thereby, creating a strong change in the awareness and actions of people, businesses, agencies, units, and functional forces.

According to the National Steering Committee 389, in the peak month alone, units and localities arrested and handled 10,437 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Of these, there were 1,936 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods; 6,870 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud; 1,631 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement. The State budget collected 1,279 billion VND. Temporarily seized goods and exhibits worth an estimated over 4,075 billion VND; prosecuted 204 cases, 378 defendants.

For Lai Chau province, it has focused on leading, directing, thoroughly grasping and strictly implementing the Prime Minister's Telegrams and Directives on launching a peak period to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, infringement of intellectual property rights and strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the new situation. During the peak period, 77 cases were inspected, 31 violations were detected, 26 cases were administratively sanctioned, the total value of infringing goods confiscated and destroyed was 116.2 million VND.

Discussing at the conference, representatives of ministries, branches and localities shared some experiences and proposed solutions to combat and prevent smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and intellectual property rights infringement in the coming time.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in the coming time, the whole country needs to continue to firmly adhere to the goal of resolutely preventing, combating, stopping, repelling, and eventually ending and eliminating smuggling of counterfeit and poor-quality goods, goods that infringe upon intellectual property rights, and protecting the health and interests of the people. This should be considered a long-term, regular, and central task.

The Prime Minister requested the entire political system, people and businesses to join in the implementation. Localities must enhance the effectiveness of State management. In addition, ministries, branches and localities should step up propaganda to raise people's awareness in the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. Authorities should regularly strengthen inspection and supervision, strictly handle "one case to warn the whole region"... determined to protect consumer rights and protect people's health and lives.
