'Guidelines' throughout T&T Group's 30-year development journey

Devote much enthusiasm to community activities

T&T Group has just received the First Class Labor Medal for the third time from the President. This noble award comes at the right time of the Group's 30th anniversary (1993-2023).

After 3 decades of steadfastly linking business interests with the development and progress of society, the prosperity of the country, T&T Group has grown to become the leading multi-industry private economic group in Vietnam. T&T Group operates in 7 core business areas, including: Finance & Investment; Real Estate; Energy & Environment; Industry and Trade; Transport Infrastructure, Seaports and Logistics; Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries; Healthcare, Education & Sports. The Group has a charter capital of 22,000 billion VND with about 200 member units and more than 80,000 employees in the entire system.

T&T Group has now become a leading multi-industry private economic group in Vietnam.

According to Founder Do Quang Hien, the development of T&T Group's scale always "Originates from the Heart" - taking people as the center, economic development closely linked to community interests. This is also the root for all activities of the group, from business to social responsibility. When entering a new field, T&T Group's motto always puts the Heart first.

Mr. Hien recalled that in 2021, SHB was the first bank to implement the Government's policy, accepting the restructuring of Hanoi Housing Bank (Habubank). This was an unprecedented story because it was the first bank to accept the restructuring of a poorly performing bank from the State Bank.

When SHB checked the big bad debt customers at Habubank, they found Binh An Seafood Company. Mr. Hien then went directly to Can Tho to the business owner's house and went directly to Binh An Seafood Company.

“The situation at that time was very heartbreaking. Hundreds of farmers stood in front of the business owner’s house and in front of Binh An Seafood Company, helpless. Some even told me that they had prepared rat poison and gasoline. That means they were in dire straits. They had to borrow money from banks to buy fish fry, buy food, and raise big fish to sell to Binh An Seafood Company. But when they finished selling, they could not collect the money and were at risk of losing their house, their business, and everything,” Mr. Hien recalled.

That is also the reason why Mr. Hien decided to support the restructuring of Binh An Seafood. After visiting the factory, he agreed with the leaders of SHB Bank to arrange debt, pay off debts to farmers and restore production activities of Binh An Seafood Company.

The decision of Mr. Hien and SHB has solved the jobs for thousands of workers, continued to implement export contracts with partners, including American business partners. More importantly, farmers have recovered their debts, gradually stabilizing order, socio-economy and life.

In Mr. Hien's opinion, when talking about business, we must talk about profit. Because with profit, businesses can exist and develop, creating jobs and income for workers.

However, businesses do not seek profit at all costs, but must do so in a cultural spirit, in a spirit of dedication to the community, to society, and in a spirit of respect and mutual benefit with all partners.

“I always tell the group’s employees and my friends that we have today not because we are good, but because society loves us, cares for us, and gives us. Therefore, we must try to work harder, contribute more to give back in some way,” Mr. Hien shared.

In 2021, T&T Group was assigned to survey, plan, and implement the construction of Quang Tri airport. The project has a total estimated investment of about VND 5,821,073 billion. According to Mr. Hien, "investing at this time means accepting losses."

However, according to Mr. Hien, this “loss” will be the main driving force to promote the economy and society of Quang Tri province in the next 5 years. T&T Group has accompanied Quang Tri province to successfully invest in the airport with the expectation that when Quang Tri province’s economy develops, T&T Group will have the opportunity to develop to compensate for the initial investment.

Also in this land, T&T Group was honored to sponsor the construction of lighting and sound systems at Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Special National Monument and Hien Luong - Ben Hai River Delta Special National Monument.

Recently, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and T&T Group started two projects under the Planning for Conservation, Restoration and Promotion of the Value of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nam Dan, Nghe An.

Notably, T&T Group was also assigned the responsibility of surveying, researching, planning, designing and constructing the Plan for conservation, restoration and promotion of the value of the special national relic site of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nam Dan, Nghe An.

Most recently, on November 28, 2023, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and T&T Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cultural Tourism Area project and the 9-storey Waterfall project at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan in Nam Dan, Nghe An, an important event to implement the Plan to preserve, restore and promote the value of the special national relic site of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site approved by the Prime Minister.

“There are projects that do not bring immediate profits to businesses, but those profits are for the locality and the community, so we should do them with all our heart and soul. If we succeed in that locality and help the community develop, it will also bring success and happiness to ourselves and the business,” Mr. Hien shared.

Age 30 "Pure Mind - Achievement - Perfection"

As Mr. Hien emphasized, “Originating from the Heart” is the driving force for T&T Group to expand its business activities. And the life of Founder Do Quang Hien is integrated into the 30-year history of T&T Group, which is a journey of transformation from dreams and ambitions to a strong desire to contribute.

Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarded the First Class Labor Medal to T&T Group.

Over nearly 3 decades, the value of “Originating from the Heart” has also developed. The heart is now the root, and has been developed into a system of values including “Pure Heart - Achievement - Goodness”.

Mr. Hien explained, “Having a heart is not enough, each person needs to be responsible for what they do, dare to take responsibility to create valuable results for society. Besides that, there must be a spirit of learning, responsibility towards society. Finally, there must be a spirit of innovation, always changing to develop further.”

The spirit of innovation, according to the Founder of T&T Group, is a very difficult category. Thinking about change, talking about change, but when it comes to doing it, it is not simple. To highlight this spirit, it is necessary to focus on the key points to clearly see each change.

To achieve these T's, it requires everyone to have both heart and aspiration. Each individual must always have the aspiration to lead with national pride and national identity. In Japan and Korea, there are private economic groups that contribute up to 80% of GDP, leading to tens of thousands of small businesses, creating jobs for millions of people. This is the goal that T&T Group is aiming for and to achieve it, it is certain that there must be national pride and the desire to bring value to the country.

“In the future, there will be many more challenges ahead, which will be much more difficult than before, so the spirit of the 6 Ts “Pure Heart - Achievement - Goodness” will have to be expanded and strengthened even more,” Mr. Hien shared.

On November 30, T&T Group held a ceremony to receive the First Class Labor Medal. This is the third time the group has received this award for its great contributions to economic and social development.

Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Do Quang Hien - Founder, Chairman of the Strategy Committee of T&T Group said: "T&T Group's achievements come from many factors. In particular, the unit has received support and assistance from the government, cooperation and companionship from partners, investors, businesses, and entrepreneurs at home and abroad". Mr. Hien also emphasized the role, dedication, and creativity of T&T Group's staff.

The founder and Chairman of the Strategy Committee of T&T Group affirmed that the business goal for the next 30 years of T&T Group is to continue to be associated with the national spirit. "Our core values are summarized in 6 words: pure heart - achievement - perfection. T&T Group always has the aspiration to lead the region, creating a national brand on the international map".

In addition to receiving the First Class Labor Medal three times, T&T Group also received the Second and Third Class Labor Medals. Mr. Do Quang Hien personally also received the First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals, the Outstanding Citizen of the Capital in 2018, the Bach Thai Buoi Award - Vietnamese Entrepreneur of the 21st Century, and was honored as an Asian Entrepreneur in 2017.
