Meta's $1,000 Smart Glasses Revealed

Meta is getting closer to releasing its smart augmented reality (AR) glasses called Meta Celeste with a slimmer design and an EMG bracelet, a system that reads neural signals.

On the evening of July 1, user X named @Lunayian shared many images and videos believed to be of a smart augmented reality (AR) glasses model called Meta Celeste and the accompanying electromyography (EMG) control bracelet.

At first glance, the two devices look like a pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses and a Whoop fitness bracelet.

With the Orion prototype already making an impression in 2024, these images seem to show that Meta has designed a slimmer and more stylish frame, while the bracelet, called Ceres, has a more subtle and discreet design.

@Lunayian revealed that all the product's media information was discovered in the original firmware. Specifically, Celeste could be Meta's first pair of AR smart glasses that can completely or partially replace the user's phone.

With Ceres, users will feel a slight vibration on their wrist when the "band detects a gesture." This X user also said that the band can support handwriting. Meta is said to be testing this feature, but it may not be included when the product launches.

According to Bloomberg , Meta is aiming for a price of around $1,000 for its first pair of AR glasses. That’s no small amount of money, but it would be a formidable competitor to the $3,500 price tag of Apple’s Vision Pro glasses.

Smart glasses with displays would be the next step in Meta's vision of creating true AR glasses that can overlay images, videos, and interactive information onto the real world , according to analyst Mark Gurman.
