According to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning (China), at 6:30 a.m. on May 19, 2023, in Jingxi City, Baise, Guangxi Province, a serious traffic accident occurred, killing 11 people, including 9 people carrying Vietnamese identity documents.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Nanning proactively contacted local authorities to verify the information and actively implemented necessary consular measures; requested the Chinese side to ensure legitimate rights and interests if these were determined to be Vietnamese citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also urgently coordinating with domestic authorities to verify the identities of the victims and promptly notify the victims' families and relevant localities.
Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Consular Department and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning are actively following the case, closely coordinating with relevant agencies of Vietnam and China, implementing necessary measures to protect citizens and supporting the victims' families in handling the aftermath.
