At around 8:00 p.m. on October 17, residents of 68 Thanh My Loi Street, Cat Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City detected a strong burning smell. Many people ran out to see black smoke billowing from the 5th floor of the high-rise building, then a fierce fire broke out. Some people shouted to try to put out the fire, but at that time there was no one in the house, the fire broke out on the upper floors so it was impossible to approach and extinguish the fire. Residents informed the Fire Police and Rescue Force to come to the rescue.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Area 2 of Ho Chi Minh City Police mobilized many specialized fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to quickly arrive to the rescue.


By 10 p.m. the same day, the fire was completely contained. The fire did not cause any human casualties, but many properties in the house were burned down. The damage is currently being assessed, and the authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
