Summary of the program to support the Cuban people and award ceremony for composing Vietnamese-Cuba songs

(Chinhphu.vn) - The closing ceremony of the campaign to support the Cuban people "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" and the award ceremony and performance of the winning work of the songwriting campaign "Vietnam - Cuba, forever echoing the song of solidarity and friendship" took place on October 18.

At the ceremony, comrade Do Van Chien, Member of the Politburo , Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said that during the 65 days of launching, the program "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship" has received deep attention and deep affection from many people of all walks of life. We all feel very clearly that from the elderly to children, from the mountains to the plains, all classes and social strata,... have supported the program with all gratitude, appreciation, and cherishing the close brotherly friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

Along with the material support, the songwriting campaign "Vietnam - Cuba: Forever the song of solidarity and friendship" jointly organized by the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations , the Vietnam Musicians Association and the Literature and Arts Times also attracted hundreds of professional and non-professional musicians and artists across the country to respond, creating many emotional works praising the Vietnam - Cuba friendship.

The program has aroused spiritual strength, creative inspiration and pride in the special and rare friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

According to the report of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , the Program was a great success, exceeding the expectations of the Organizing Committee.

Comrade Do Van Chien expressed his sincere thanks to all compatriots, cadres, soldiers, businesses, socio-political organizations nationwide, and overseas Vietnamese who joined hands to respond to the program with all their love for Cuba...

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front also emphasized that the success of the "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" program has opened up many new and suitable ways of thinking and doing to effectively implement the three pillars, including: Party foreign affairs, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam and Cuba to foster and raise to new heights the traditional, friendly, brotherly relationship between Vietnam and Cuba to become increasingly strong and beautiful.

The campaign recorded a donation of 615 billion VND.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" will be deployed nationwide for 65 days (August 13 - October 16, 2025), aiming to mobilize at least 65 billion VND in resources to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties and foster the special friendship between the two peoples.

However, after only 30 hours of the national launching ceremony held on August 13 in Hanoi, the program received 65 billion VND, reaching the initial minimum target. After 48 hours of launching, it doubled the initial target (130 billion VND) and after more than 3 weeks of launching, the program received a total value of over 400 billion VND. By the end of October 16, 2025, the total amount of donations reached 615 billion VND, 9.5 times the initial target.

On September 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, under the witness of General Secretary To Lam, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of Cuba and many high-ranking leaders of the two countries, Comrade Do Van Chien, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, presented the first installment of nearly 385 billion VND to the Cuban people.

During his visit to Vietnam from September 30 to October 5, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Cuba, once again expressed his deep gratitude for the noble gesture of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, thereby demonstrating solidarity and extremely practical support for the Cuban people in the most difficult times.

Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez also said that part of the money will be used to repair about 5,000 damaged transformers nationwide; the remaining amount will be used to repair the electricity system, domestic water and the most urgent needs of the Cuban people.

Recording 140 songs about Vietnam - Cuba friendship

Responding to the program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship", the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations coordinated with organizations to organize a songwriting campaign "Vietnam - Cuba, forever the song of solidarity and friendship". Less than 2 months after launching, the campaign received 140 works from 124 authors across the country.

Accordingly, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, 10 Encouragement Prizes, 4 Dedication Prizes, and 2 Companion Prizes. At the same time, the Organizing Committee selected 65 excellent songs to publish the music collection "Vietnam - Cuba, Forever the song of solidarity and friendship".

At the ceremony, the demo collection was solemnly presented to Comrade Rogelio Polanco Fuentes - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Vietnam, as a beautiful symbol of music, friendship and steadfast love between the two peoples.

The organizers said that the second round of donations of the Program will be managed publicly and transparently, and will continue to be transferred to the Cuban people as soon as possible, contributing to sharing difficulties with the friendly country and strengthening the special friendship between the two brotherly countries of Vietnam and Cuba.

The campaign to support the Cuban people "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship" is not only a simple humanitarian campaign, but has become a political and social activity with great influence, recognized both domestically and internationally. This affirms the strength of the spirit of "remembering the source of water when drinking", the loyalty and steadfast affection of the Vietnamese people towards the Cuban people, and is also a testament to the strength of national solidarity and the spirit of sharing and kindness with international friends.
