BRIDGE MEETING
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, assessed that this meeting is a bridge between the 2021-2026 term and the new period with many historic changes, namely the implementation of administrative unit arrangement and operation of the 2-level government model.
According to statistics, in 23 sessions from mid-2021 to present, the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council has passed more than 640 resolutions, specifying the Party's guidelines and policies and the laws of the State and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
At this session, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council passed 9 resolutions on financial support for the police force; adjusting and supplementing the public investment plan; finalizing the 2024 budget and assigning additional revenue and expenditure estimates for the 2025 budget; spending on gifts for people with meritorious services; deciding on the investment policy for the Van Thanh canal renovation project...
In particular, the Van Thanh canal renovation project (Thanh My Tay Ward) has a total investment of more than 8,550 billion VND, implemented from now until 2030. The project will renovate the entire main canal nearly 2 km long (from Vo Oanh Street to Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal) and the 275 m long branch canal; build two-way traffic roads, build a new 17 m wide Phu An bridge, expand Ngo Tat To street to 25 m (from Phu An bridge to Phu My street), build a parallel road connecting Dien Bien Phu street... When completed, the project will contribute to urban beautification, improve the environment, increase drainage capacity, and prevent flooding for residential areas.
MANY IMPRESSIONS OF INNOVATION
Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that this was the final meeting of a journey but also opened a new milestone to prepare for the next journey. During the operation, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen assessed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council had left 4 important innovation marks. Specifically, the supervision mechanism was accelerated, focusing on key issues, promptly detecting shortcomings and making recommendations for handling. The supervision work has increasingly improved in quality and efficiency, meeting the requirements of direction and management. Questioning activities have been continuously innovated in the direction of reform, selecting practical content, supervising both implementation results and requiring clear commitments.
In addition, the work of meeting voters has many innovations, increasingly closely connecting with the people, highly appreciated by voters, especially the program "People ask - Government answers". In addition, the coordination between the 3 standing bodies including the People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City is increasingly close and synchronous, creating a solid foundation for the implementation of the city's resolutions and policies.
It is expected that at 8:00 a.m. on June 30, the whole country will hold a ceremony to announce and hand over the Central Government's decision on the organization of two-level local governments. On the afternoon of July 1, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, will hold its first meeting.
Many activities to celebrate the day Ho Chi Minh City merges two provinces
During the 3 days of June 27-29, Ho Chi Minh City organized environmental activities, happy family festival, honored typical cultural and happy families, announced and awarded decisions recognizing OCOP products.
On the morning of June 30, at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials, there will be a ceremony to announce the resolutions and decisions of the Central and local governments on the arrangement of provincial and communal administrative units and the establishment of a new Ho Chi Minh City. The program will be broadcast live at the Ho Chi Minh City bridge, connecting online to all 168 communes, wards and special zones. In the evening of the same day, a special art program to celebrate the 327th anniversary of the formation of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City and the 49th anniversary of the city being honored to be named after Uncle Ho will be held on Nguyen Hue walking street. Closing the series of activities is the ceremony to announce and award the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Innovation Award in 2025.
