A new world record for the longest baguette was set at an event hosted by the French Federation of Bakers and Pastry Chefs in Suresnes, a suburb of Paris. A team of 18 bakers began kneading the dough at 3 a.m. on May 5th (local time) before placing the bread in a specially designed slow-baking oven.
The previous record for the longest loaf of bread belonged to the city of Como in Italy, measuring 132.62 meters, set in June 2019.
A portion of the loaf of bread, at least 5 cm thick, was cut and shared with the public. The rest was donated to the homeless.
According to standard practice, a traditional French baguette is approximately 60 cm long, made only from flour, water, salt, and yeast, and weighs around 250 grams.
