(CPV) – The 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Venezuela is a proud milestone in the relationship between the two countries; an opportunity to look back on the Vietnam-Venezuela relationship from the past to the present, and create a foundation for this good relationship to develop new steps, contributing positively to the development of each country, while also helping to consolidate the international position of both Vietnam and Venezuela.

On the evening of December 9, 2020 (local time) in the capital Caracas, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Venezuelan agencies, solemnly organized the 35th Anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Venezuela diplomatic relations (December 18, 1989 - December 18, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were Vice President, Chairman of the Venezuela-Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission, Jorge Márquez; People's Inspector General, Alfredo José Ruiz Angulo; Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvan Gil Pinto; representatives of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group and ministries, departments, localities, businesses, experts, scholars, local friendship personalities, press agencies of the two countries; Ambassadors, representatives of countries and international organizations and staff of the Vietnamese Representative Office in Venezuela.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My highlighted the historical significance of the establishment of Vietnam-Venezuela diplomatic relations and reviewed the important cooperation achievements between the two countries in recent times; emphasizing that Vietnam and Latin American countries in general and Vietnam and Venezuela in particular have a good traditional friendship and solidarity, originating from similarities in the history of the struggle for national liberation, love of peace, freedom and justice.

During the years when Vietnam waged the struggle for national liberation and reunification, together with the progressive peace-loving people of the world, the people of Latin American countries, including the people and progressive forces of Venezuela, took the lead in anti-war movements, supporting the just struggle of the Vietnamese people. The Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember these pure and noble international solidarity sentiments towards the cause of the Vietnamese Revolution.
Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Venezuela is a proud milestone in the relationship between the two countries; an opportunity to look back at the Vietnam - Venezuela relationship up to now, and create a foundation for this good relationship to develop new steps, actively contributing to the development of each country, while contributing to consolidating the international position of both Vietnam and Venezuela; emphasizing that the first and foremost task is to effectively implement and further deepen the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela in all fields, focusing on prioritizing cooperation in key areas such as oil and gas, agriculture, telecommunications, tourism, etc.
On behalf of the United Socialist Party (PSUV), the State, Government and people of Venezuela, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yván Gil Pinto respectfully conveyed warm congratulations from President Nicolas Maduro to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and senior leaders of the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam; emphasizing the great significance of the establishment of Venezuela - Vietnam diplomatic relations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvan Gil affirmed that over the past time, the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two countries have continued to be promoted and strengthened on all three pillars: Party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy. In addition, parliamentary diplomacy and relations between localities of the two countries have also been promoted. In particular, the friendship and cooperation between our Party and the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) have been consolidated, creating a favorable political foundation for bilateral relations.
During the 35th anniversary year, the two countries exchanged many high-level delegations, typically the visit to Venezuela in April 2024 by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; the personal visits to Vietnam by him in June, by PSUV Politburo member and Permanent Vice President Delcy Rodriguez in October, by PSUV Vice President in charge of foreign affairs Rander Peña in December, and especially the meeting between President Nicolas Maduro and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the BRICS Conference in October... demonstrating the political trust and close relationship between the two parties and the two countries of Venezuela and Vietnam.

Minister Yvan Gil expressed his belief that with the results of the traditional relationship and comprehensive partnership in recent times, with the wishes of the two ruling parties, the determination of the two governments, and the aspirations of the people of the two countries, Venezuela and Vietnam will enter a new era of cooperation, actively contributing to the development of each country, for peace, happiness, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.
Within the framework of activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Venezuela, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela has coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Venezuelan agencies to organize many activities such as: Vietnam Day in Venezuela; Photo exhibition "Vietnam, country, people" and "35 years of Vietnam-Venezuela relations" and many other activities such as talks... On this occasion, the Central Television (VTV) also premiered the documentary "Vietnam-Venezuela: Two nations, one flag" co-produced by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and MTV Media 21 Company./.
