On April 16, 1984, the Council of Ministers (now the Government ) issued Decision No. 156 on the establishment of Binh Chanh commune, including Tu Tra village of Binh Tu commune, Ngu Xa village, Long Hoi village of Binh Phu commune and a part of land of Binh Que commune.

Rising from hardship, Binh Chanh commune actively responded to the innovation initiated and led by the Party, building a more and more clearly changing appearance of the homeland.
The work of agricultural reform and collectivization was carried out synchronously, cooperatives operated effectively, truly being the people's support, production relations were established and gradually improved. People contributed thousands of working days to irrigation, digging and building canals, reclaiming land, and expanding production areas.

If in 1984, the commune's rice productivity reached 15 - 20 quintals/ha, by 2023 it will reach 61.46 quintals/ha; average food per capita in 2023 will reach 1,663 kg, while in 1984 it was only 211 kg.
Average income per capita in 2023 will increase to 56 million VND. Many economic development models such as pig farms, chicken farms, cow farms, etc. or models of making straw mushrooms and dried vermicelli are effective.

Binh Chanh commune was recognized as meeting new rural standards in 2015. Up to now, it has completed 19/19 criteria for advanced new rural communes and is awaiting appraisal from superiors. This is a great effort to change the face of Binh Chanh countryside.

It is known that Binh Chanh is in the process of being reorganized into a commune-level administrative unit and will be merged into Binh Phu commune. This is expected to be an opportunity to concentrate investment resources to develop this land with a rich patriotic tradition.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its founding, Binh Chanh commune also organized camping activities, folk games, art performances and gave gifts to policy families.
