The success of the August Revolution in 1945 opened a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation. The government was in the hands of the people; the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born; the feudal monarchy in Vietnam ended; more than 80 years of our people under the yoke of colonialism and fascism ended. From here, the country, society, people and people of Vietnam entered a new era, the era of national independence associated with socialism.
Seizing the opportunity, the general uprising won the victory.
In early 1945, World War II entered its final phase. The Soviet Red Army won successive decisive victories on the European battlefield, liberating a series of countries and advancing straight into the German fascist lair in Berlin. On May 9, 1945, Nazi Germany surrendered unconditionally, ending the war in Europe. On August 8, 1945, the Soviet Red Army launched a stormy attack on the Japanese army. On August 14, 1945, Japanese fascists surrendered unconditionally, ending World War II. According to the agreement of the Allies, after the Japanese fascists surrendered, the British and Chiang Kai-shek armies would enter Indochina to disarm the Japanese army. Meanwhile, the French colonialists were eager to rely on their allies to restore their dominant position; the American imperialists behind these forces were also ready to intervene in Indochina; Reactionary, stubborn elements in the Japanese puppet government are plotting to replace the master and oppose the revolution.

In the country, through revolutionary struggles, by 1945, the revolutionary movement had risen. On March 9, 1945, Japanese fascists staged a coup to oust the French. That very night, the Central Committee's expanded meeting decided to launch a revolutionary movement as a premise for a general uprising, changing the forms of propaganda, agitation, organization and struggle appropriately. In March 1945, the Party Central Committee issued the Directive "Japan - France fighting each other and our actions".
From April 1945 onwards, the anti-Japanese national salvation movement took place strongly, rich in content and form. In early May 1945, Uncle Ho returned from Cao Bang to Tuyen Quang, choosing Tan Trao as the base to direct the revolution of the whole country and prepare for the National Congress. On June 4, 1945, the Viet Bac Liberation Zone was established, under the leadership of the Provisional Command Committee, becoming the base of the whole country. In August 1945, the National Party Conference held in Tan Trao affirmed: "A very good opportunity for us to gain independence has come" and decided to launch a nationwide uprising to seize power from the Japanese fascists and their lackeys before the Allied forces entered Indochina; proposing three principles to ensure the victory of the general uprising, which were: Concentration, unity, and timeliness. At 11:00 p.m. on August 13, 1945, the Uprising Committee issued Military Order No. 1 calling on the entire people to launch a general uprising. On August 16, 1945, the National Congress held in Tan Trao approved the "10 major policies of the Viet Minh"; approved the "General Uprising Order"; stipulated the national flag and national anthem; established the Central National Liberation Committee, that is, the Provisional Government with comrade Ho Chi Minh as President. President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter calling on the people of the whole country to launch a general uprising, stating: "The decisive hour for the destiny of our nation has come. The whole country, let's stand up and use our own strength to liberate ourselves."
Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the people of the whole country rose up and carried out a general uprising to seize power. From August 14 to 18, the general uprising broke out and won victory in the rural areas of the Northern Delta, most of the Central region, part of the South and in the towns of Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Ha Tinh, Hoi An, Quang Nam... On August 19, the uprising to seize power was victorious in Hanoi. On August 23, the uprising was victorious in Hue and in Bac Kan, Hoa Binh, Hai Phong, Ha Dong, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Bac Lieu... On August 25, the uprising was victorious in Saigon - Gia Dinh, Kon Tum, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Bien Hoa, Tay Ninh, Ben Tre... In Con Dao, the Con Dao prison Party Committee led the imprisoned revolutionary soldiers to rise up and seize power.
Within just 15 days at the end of August 1945, the general uprising achieved complete victory, and the power throughout the country was in the hands of the people.
On September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, before a rally of nearly one million compatriots, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, solemnly read the Declaration of Independence, declaring to the nation and the world: The Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Since then, September 2 has been our country's National Day.
In Khanh Hoa, under the leadership of the Provisional Provincial Party Committee, the prefectures and districts rose up and won one after another. In Van Ninh on August 14, Ninh Hoa on August 17, Nha Trang, Vinh Xuong, Dien Khanh on August 19 and Cam Ranh on August 22. The victory of the uprising to seize power in Khanh Hoa contributed to the overall victory of the General Uprising in the fall of 1945 throughout the country.
Proud of the achievements of the country, homeland
After the success of the August Revolution, the newly-born Democratic Republic of Vietnam had to face numerous difficulties. In that context, President Ho Chi Minh and our Party firmly steered the Vietnamese revolutionary boat to overcome all difficulties and challenges; leading our people to victory in the resistance wars against the French and the Americans.
The great victory in the spring of 1975 brought our country into a period of national independence, unity, and socialism. The entire Party, people, and army focused their intelligence and efforts to heal the wounds of war, build a new life, and carry out the task of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. Under the leadership of the Party, our army and people focused on restoring the socio-economy while fighting to protect the border, the independence, and the sacred territorial sovereignty of the Fatherland; at the same time, fulfilling their international obligations to help the Cambodian people escape the genocide and carry out the task of reviving the country.
The period from 1975 to 1985, the whole country followed the path of socialism, the period when our Party sought the path of innovation. This was also the period when new thinking was gradually formed, originating from the vivid reality of the Vietnamese revolution. The achievements and shortcomings left valuable lessons for the cause of building socialism in Vietnam in the following years.
The 6th National Congress of the Party (December 1986) set out the path of comprehensive national renewal, marking an important turning point on the path of transition to socialism in Vietnam. The renewal process has achieved great achievements of historical significance, truly bringing about great and very good changes for the country in the past nearly 40 years, contributing to making "Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today".
After nearly 40 years, from a country devastated by many wars, poor, backward, hungry, besieged and embargoed for 30 years, Vietnam has risen to become a middle-income country with an average income per capita of about 4,300 USD in 2023, an increase of nearly 60 times compared to 1986. The average economic growth is more than 6.5%/year, belonging to the group of countries with high growth rates in the region and in the world. The size of Vietnam's economy increased from about 4 billion USD when the renovation began, to more than 430 billion USD in 2023, ranking 35th in the world, an increase of more than 95 times compared to 1986. Import-export turnover in 2023 reached 681 billion USD; trade surplus for 8 consecutive years; belonging to the group of 20 countries with the leading trade scale in the world. From a country with severe food shortages, Vietnam has become the world's leading rice exporter; in 2023, it exported more than 8.1 million tons of rice, contributing to ensuring global food security. The fields of culture, society and environment are focused on, ensuring harmony with economic development and achieving many important achievements. Our Party and State always care for and ensure social security for the people with the spirit of "leaving no one behind". In 2023, Vietnam's human development index increased by 8 places, ranking 107/193; Vietnam's happiness index increased by 11 places, ranking 54/143.
The work of Party building and rectification has seen many clear and effective changes in recent times. The work of building a socialist rule-of-law State of the people, by the people, for the people has achieved many important results and continues to be perfected in terms of theoretical foundations based on practical experience. National defense and security have been maintained. Foreign affairs have achieved important achievements with the identity of "Vietnamese Bamboo" being strongly promoted, creating historic turning points: To date, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 193 countries, has strategic partnerships and comprehensive partnerships with 30 countries, especially comprehensive strategic partnerships or strategic partnerships with all 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and many G20 countries. Our Party has relations with 253 parties in 115 countries around the world.
After nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation policy, the Party Committee, government and people of Khanh Hoa have promoted the heroic tradition, solidarity, consensus, dynamism and creativity, upholding the bravery and spirit of the land and people of Khanh Hoa, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, exploiting potentials, especially the advantages of the marine economy for rapid and sustainable development. In the past 10 years, Khanh Hoa has maintained a relatively high growth rate, the economic structure has shifted in a positive direction. In 2023, the province's GRDP increased by 10.35% (ranked 4th in the country, leading the North Central and Central coastal regions); in the first 6 months of 2024, GRDP increased by 12.73% (ranked 2nd in the country and ranking 1st in the North Central and Central coastal regions). The work of building the Party and the political system continues to receive attention and direction, becoming orderly, synchronous and effective. The Provincial Party Standing Committee has actively and focused on directing the implementation of preparations for party congresses at all levels towards the 19th National Party Congress according to Directive No. 35-CT/TW, dated June 14, 2024 of the Politburo on party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress...
