Attending at the Central bridge point were comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Vietnam ; Le Thanh Long, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; comrades members of the Party Central Committee; former leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly ; representatives of ministries, departments, branches, and central organizations.
Attending the meeting at Lang Son province were comrade Doan Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Provincial Association of the Elderly; and representatives of departments, branches, sectors and organizations of the province.
At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the glorious journey and great contributions of the elderly in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. After 30 years of establishment and development, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly has affirmed its role as a reliable support for more than 17 million elderly people across the country. The Association constantly innovates its content and methods of operation, both caring for and protecting the legitimate rights of its members and promoting the role of the elderly in social life.
Currently, the country has more than 7 million elderly people who are entrepreneurs, business owners, and owners of production and business establishments; creating jobs for about 9 million workers. In addition, millions of elderly people are directly participating in the work of building the Party and government, protecting security and order, maintaining solidarity, and reconciling conflicts at the grassroots level, the silent but solid pillars in the community.
For the Elderly Association of Lang Son province, the province currently has more than 86,000 members, with an organizational system covering 11 districts, cities and communes, wards and towns. The association is a place to gather, care for the material and spiritual life and promote the role of the elderly in the community. Over the years, the association has constantly innovated its activities, promoting its core role in mobilizing members to participate in building cultural life, preserving traditional identity, contributing to social stability and local development.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front affirmed: The elderly are a valuable asset of the nation and people. Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and the entire system of the elderly association from central to grassroots levels continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoint on the elderly, considering them an important force in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Associations at all levels need to promote initiative and creativity in organizing movements, promoting advanced models, promoting good examples of the elderly in all fields, and at the same time pay attention to mobilizing resources to ensure living conditions, care and comprehensive development for the elderly.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly was awarded the First Class Labor Medal . At the ceremony, delegates performed the launching ceremony of the humanitarian program "Bright eyes for the elderly", aiming to support care, screening, and treatment of eye diseases for the elderly, especially in remote, isolated, and disadvantaged areas.
