After 4 rounds of the women's singles of the 32nd SEA Games, Vu Thi Dieu Uyen is the only one out of 14 participating athletes to have a perfect record. In the 4th round this afternoon, the athlete from Kien Giang convincingly defeated the host country's Cambodian player Pen Khemrareaksmey.

With victories over opponents from the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia, one of the two tickets to the semi-finals of group B seems to belong to Vu Thi Dieu Uyen when the two remaining opponents from Malaysia and Thailand are not too strong.
Meanwhile, Vu Thi Dieu Uyen's teammate who is competing in Group A, Doan Thi Hong Nhung, has also risen strongly after losing in the opening match to Shania Mae Garcia Mendoza of the Philippines. Three consecutive victories against players from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar have also helped Hong Nhung rise to the top of Group A, hoping to get a ticket to the semi-finals. In the remaining two rounds, the Vietnamese player can completely defeat opponents from Malaysia and Thailand who are considered not too strong.

Vice President of the Vietnam Chess Federation and Coach Phung Nguyen Tuong Minh said: "At the 32nd SEA Games this year, Vietnamese female chess players are the top hope for the conch game. Although they have just started training, they have integrated very quickly and become the top candidates for the tournament. The most formidable player is Mendoza of the Philippines, because she is a FIDE chess grandmaster."
Also in today's competition in the men's standard 2-player chess team event, the Vietnamese duo Nguyen Quang Trung and Phan Trong Binh did not play well when they lost two consecutive matches against Cambodia and the Philippines.
