Dang Quoc Vinh, a student from Ninh Giang High School (Ninh Giang District, Hai Duong Province), was also the runner-up in the national Thinking Assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and scored 120/150 points in the Competency Assessment exam of Hanoi National University. Previously, Vinh was also admitted to Hanoi University of Science and Technology based on his high school transcript.

In the recent high school graduation exam, Vinh excellently achieved 10 points in Math; 9.75 points in Chemistry; 9.5 points in Physics; 9.2 points in English; 8.75 points in Biology; 8.25 points in Literature. With this result, Vinh achieved a total score of 29.25 points in block A and was only 0.1 point behind the national valedictorian (according to the calculation of the total of 3 subjects) and became the valedictorian of Hai Duong province in all three blocks: A, A1 and B. Vinh was also the only candidate in Hai Duong province to achieve 10 points in Math in this year's graduation exam.

Ms. Le Hai Vinh, a math teacher and Vinh's homeroom teacher, said that Vinh was a student in the math team, won second prize in the provincial math competition in grade 12, and second prize in the Hai Duong Province Youth Informatics Competition in grade 11, but Vinh also did well in all subjects. Therefore, in all the mock exams and final exams at school, from grade 10 to grade 12, Vinh was always the valedictorian in at least three university entrance exam groups. There was even an exam where he achieved the highest score in all five different groups.

Sharing his study secrets, Vinh modestly said that he only tries to concentrate highly on his studies: focusing on listening to lectures in class and focusing when studying at home. In the evening, Vinh sets up a separate study space, trying to minimize all external influences such as TV and computers. He usually spends 1.5 hours to complete homework for all subjects, then focuses on reviewing one or two subjects, rotating the subjects during the week.

Worried most about social science subjects such as History and Geography, Vinh tried to focus on listening to lectures in these subjects. According to Vinh, focusing on listening to lectures is the best way to grasp the lesson in class, reducing study time at home. "I think not studying any subject in a biased way will help me have a good knowledge base," Vinh shared.

Talking about his future plans, Vinh said he has been passionate about computers and information technology since grade 10 and dreams of becoming an engineer in this field. Being the valedictorian of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and being admitted to the field with the highest standard score of this university this year, Computer Science, Vinh said he is very happy to have touched his dream.

However, the Hai Duong student is still wondering whether he should attend the interview round of Hanoi University of Science and Technology to take the exam for the gifted class or not, even though he knows that studying here will have more opportunities for further development. "I am worried that studying the gifted program will be too heavy and will not have enough time while I really want to participate in many other activities at school and not just focus on studying," Vinh shared.

Achieving excellent results in this year's university entrance exam season, Vinh said he had to send his thanks to his family, teachers, school and friends who have always accompanied, taught, supported and encouraged him.

As for teacher Luu Hai Vinh, Vinh will always be a special student because he is not only intelligent, good at studying, passionate about math, but also very obedient, polite, sociable with everyone, and has good life skills.

“I have taught many excellent students, but Vinh is a rare student,” Ms. Vinh said proudly.
