One hot summer day, we returned to the poetic land of Tien… we lost our way in the lush, shady fruit gardens, next to the ancient stone walls, where green buds are stretching to find life. Almost every year, the people and the government of Tien Phuoc district have won high prizes in the “beautiful gardens - walls - roads” contest.

“Since 1992, after finishing the house, in addition to hiring workers, my wife and I also dug up rocks from the mountain, piled up soil into long, thick walls, and planted rows of green tea, Chinese tea, areca trees, and flowers along both sides of the alley. Every morning at 4 a.m., some of us were upstairs, some were downstairs, sweeping, tending, pruning… People came to visit and compliment us, my wife and I were very happy!” - Mr. Khuong said.

“The stone wall work by Mr. Le Truong Khuong has just won the first prize for “beautiful wall” at the provincial level in 2025. This is also the result of the hard-working and creative hands of farmers with many stages of digging stones, layering, and taking care to preserve the space of the ancient Fairyland in the midst of constantly changing times.

On the gentle hillsides, we encountered rows of pepper trees that had been growing for more than 10 years, interspersed with newly planted mangosteens and durians; more than 2,000 areca trees growing tall; lush green banana gardens with long, laden clusters of fruit; guavas, oranges, green-skinned grapefruits, pomelos, longans… bearing fruit in the flowering and fruiting season. When summer comes, the clear blue river nearby embraces and cools the immense “fairy garden”.

Referring to the garden that he has been attached to for nearly 40 years and just won the second prize for the "beautiful garden" at the provincial level in 2025, Mr. Hue excitedly said: "Since 1986, I started to transform this wasteland into a mixed garden. I hired a bulldozer, turned the hill into layers, piled up rocks and soil into steps, then planted bananas, then cinnamon. In 2014, I switched to growing pepper, areca and fruit trees. The garden is now green all year round, each crop has its own fruit, not only beautiful but also brings in an income of more than 100 million VND/year".

After the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to organize the "beautiful garden - wall - road" contest, Tien Canh Commune People's Committee launched and encouraged people to participate in the contest. Households responded enthusiastically because in the people's awareness, taking care of houses, fences, gates, and gardens has existed for a long time. At the same time, the contest also meets the criteria of the new rural construction program, orienting the development of eco-tourism, and developing the garden economy in Tien Phuoc. Therefore, in recent years, the number of households registering to participate in the contest is quite large and Tien Canh Commune is also one of the leading localities in terms of award quality.
