Just having the talent to “talk nonsense”, having a saying that creates a “trend” on social networks or a few clips that receive support and sharing from the online community, an individual can become a speaker, can preach and present about all areas of life. However, because of this ease, more and more fake “speakers” appear, especially in lectures with students today.
Know how to speak, know how to give speech is a speaker
Most recently, screenwriter Binh Bong Bot caused a stir when he repeatedly made a slip of the tongue, revealing serious gaps in his knowledge. Specifically, when he was invited to be a speaker at the talk show “Creating with Vietnamese Quality ” at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Binh Bong Bot used very “plain” words to talk about the relationship between Dinh Tien Hoang - Duong Van Nga - Le Dai Hanh. He also claimed that Queen Mother Duong Van Nga was the only woman in human history “who had a relationship with two kings”. Another mistake was when he asserted that “because of performing the play Queen Mother Duong Van Nga , the Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga troupe had a grenade thrown on stage in 1979” (?!)
This is not the first time that screenwriter Binh Bong Bot has been criticized for making mistakes in cultural and historical knowledge. In episode 3 of the talk show Tram Nam Canh Khoi (One Hundred Years of Theater) produced by Vietcetera, Binh Bong Bot asked a question that left Meritorious Artist Huu Chau "dumbfounded": Is Cai Luong dying? I think its life is relatively short. For example, I will take Thanh Nga as an example, she lived a very short life. The audience thinks that this talk show does not really understand the culture of Cai Luong in the South, and Binh Bong Bot has "ridiculous" words as well as an attitude that shows superficiality in cultural research. If the programs continue to create "opportunities" for Binh Bong Bot to be a speaker, I'm afraid it may not be the last time he is criticized.
It can be seen that the increasing number of talk shows organized at universities, training institutions or clubs, groups... if there is no careful preparation and especially checking the content shared by the guests, it may leave unpredictable consequences. For example, at the end of March, at the Startup Seminar held at the University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology in Ho Chi Minh City, students were very dissatisfied with the statement of speaker D.TT: " What are we going to do at university if we are going to work for someone else in the future?"
Not stopping at making indiscriminate statements, the story became even more unpredictable when the unit invited a "fake" speaker. Accordingly, an individual named HL claimed to be "a member of the Organizing Committee, a person working and connecting to meet the technical rider between Thailand, Korea and Vietnam" and became a speaker, sharing at the workshop Expert perspective from Blackpink concert to international events at Hoa Sen University on August 8. Here, this character gave a lot of information about the Blackpink concert, however, immediately after that, the official representative of IME Vietnam (the organizer of Born Pink Tour Hanoi ) posted information about an individual "impersonating the Blackpink show crew in Vietnam to act as a speaker to share with students".
Unforeseen consequences
First of all, it must be affirmed that talk shows, seminars, and workshops bring many opportunities for students to learn, exchange, accumulate practical experience, and supplement useful information... Especially when the invited speakers are experienced, have a certain influence, and are even "idols" of young people. Therefore, ensuring accurate information, convincing and appropriate communication is the most important thing. In particular, the story of speaking in public cannot be on the border of "saying whatever you like". Because, immediately after that, the information and clips will spread very quickly on social networks and the number of people accessing will be very large, even though it is not yet known whether it is true or false. This raises the issue that the organizing units must be more careful in the preparation stage, how to choose guests, what content the program focuses on, and must be discussed and agreed upon in advance to have certain control.
In case of mistakes, admitting mistakes and correcting them quickly is very important, because correcting and responding will help prevent false information from being spread, causing negative public opinion. However, in the face of such scandals, fake "speakers" always seem to choose to remain silent and "disappear", only the organizing unit apologizes and explains. Like the incident with guest D.TT at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, although the students' complaints did not mention the speaker's name, he immediately responded "strongly" with a clip on TikTok and claimed to be the victim. More notably, the clip has the following text: "Where will these students go in the future...?" This surprised many people, because everyone thought that being a "speaker" would mean behaving in a standard, skillful, and cultured manner, not in such a "marketplace" manner.
Obviously, not everyone who stands in front of the public and speaks fluently and preaches about a certain issue is considered a speaker. Above all, that individual must have understanding, knowledge and be responsible for his or her words. As in the case of Binh Bong Bot, speaking without understanding about Cai Luong will cause young people to misunderstand this traditional art form. Instead of preserving, developing and conserving as many dedicated people have done and are doing, now, in just a few short minutes, false information has easily "touched" 500 students present at the exchange that day and even more. But then, all those "slip of the tongue" words still have no explanation from the "author" himself.
