Lam Dong province will impose a surcharge on bus tickets during the Lunar New Year holiday, starting from 40.

On February 1st, Mr. Vo Ngoc Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, signed a decision stipulating the surcharge rates and surcharge periods for passenger transport fares on certain routes during the Lunar New Year holiday of Giap Thin 2024, applicable to businesses operating inter-provincial fixed-route passenger transport services by car.

Passenger transport businesses, depending on the route, are allowed to charge a surcharge of up to 60% on fares.

Accordingly, inter-provincial routes from Binh Dinh to the Central and Northern regions will be subject to a maximum surcharge of 60% of the current fare; for other inter-provincial routes, the maximum surcharge will be 40% of the current fare.

For routes in the North (from Binh Dinh province northward), and routes in the Central and Western regions with terminals located in Lam Dong province, a surcharge will be applied from the 22nd to the 29th of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Rabbit 2023 (i.e., February 1st to February 8th, 2024). For terminals located in the Northern, Central, and Western provinces, the surcharge will be applied from the 4th to the 13th of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Dragon 2024 (i.e., February 13th to February 22nd, 2024).

For routes to the Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City, and other routes with terminals in Lam Dong, a surcharge will be applied from January 4th to 10th, 2024 (i.e., February 13th to 19th, 2024); for routes with terminals in the Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City, and other routes, the surcharge will be applied from December 24th to 30th, 2023 (i.e., February 3rd to 9th, 2024).

If fuel prices fall, businesses must reduce freight rates as stipulated.

Businesses that implement surcharges in the locality where they are registered are only allowed to apply the maximum surcharge as stipulated above after having revised their fares and posted them as required; they are not permitted to collect additional fares through other means.

The above-mentioned surcharge on ticket prices applies only to one-way travel (either to or from the destination) during the surcharge calculation period as stipulated above.

During this period, if gasoline and diesel prices decrease, passenger transport businesses are required to reduce fares as stipulated.
